The founding fathers didn't want runaway political dynasties, like a defacto monarchy. However, if they wanted to prevent any son from ever being president after his father, they could have simply made it illegal. They didn't.

The founders would be repulsed by Trump. A democrat from fifty years ago was more conservative than Ted Cruz. Etc.
