Taking a wild guess here.

Some years back there was a reality TV show called "The Pickup Artist". The host was reportedly a master womanizer ("pickup artist" is kind of a slang term for a guy who's skilled at wooing ladies and getting one-nighters). The contestants were all socially-inept nerds who had poor luck with women, and the host began teaching his trade.

The format of the show was your standard "at the end of each episode, one contestant gets eliminated". To his credit, the host knew his stuff, and almost all the contestants got a LOT better with the ladies as the contest progressed.

Anyhoo, this "Roosh" guy might have been either a contestant on that show, or the host (the thread title capitalizes "Pickup Artist", leading me to believe the author is referring to the TV show). But, as I said--wild guess.

Close but not exactly. A pick up artist is a very dated term to describe someone who has studied the mechanics of attraction, and practically uses that knowledge in a dating context. Roosh is a well known theory writer in that space. I’ve studied it myself and found it helpful.

Aha. So, not related to the TV show?

It’s related in that the people on the show were ostensibly learning pick up techniques. But no direct relationship between individuals.
