Let's say there is a democrat and a republican candidate for a given office. The republican candidate has an "objectionbable" tweet removed, but the democrat with a similar tweet does not. Twitter can claim that their servers were compromised by hackers, for who knows how long, and that they weren't intentionally interfering with elections.

That was exactly my thoughts. To send Bitcoin, these "victims" would have to be very knowledgeable in it and technology. And have those thousands in their accounts with easy access. I know people with Bitcoin, besides myself, and we don't have that much money in Bitcoin. If we ever managed to have $1,000, it's for sure we wouldn't send it all in just because a Twitter post said we'd get double back if we sent it in. The "offer" was only for 30 minutes, it said. How did so many people with that much in Bitcoin know to look at these blue checked accounts right at that time these were tweeted, unless it was planned??

Some sources are saying a Twitter employee with panel access got hacked and not just the actual accounts. So if that ends to be true, the hackers had access to pretty much all twitter accounts, that such employee had panel access to.
It is maybe possible that what you say is true and that is why Trump´s account didnt get in the group of accounts affected today.
All in all, remains to be seen who will get the blame for the hack, but this puts twitter in a very bad shape.
The hackers could have tweeted something from a prominent CEO or politician and cause a stock market crash, that as an investor scares me a bit. (E.g one time Elon Musk tweeted something the stock price immediatelly fell, the hackers could have replicated this or many other scenarios and that is dangerous.)

That's pretty easy, to give the blackmail credibility. I could post that I hacked someone's twitter account and got compromising information. It could even be true and I could post screen shots or the information. They could deny it, I could be faking the screenshots etc. There's no real way to legitimize the secret hacked data unless one of the parties were to corroborate the information.
This way it's is now internationally well known and big news that these accounts were hacked, and it wasn't just some goofy tweet that they could say was an accident or something like that, it's part of a big worldwide scam.
That being said I doubt people use twitter dms for anything illicit anyway and this is probably just some 14 year old Malaysian kid that got a twitter employee's credentials in a phishing scam and figured the best way to make money with it.
The stock market stuff could be more profitable but much more difficult to avoid a paper trail and the hackers probably don't have access to equity markets anyway.

I agree with you. I expected to see a warning message when I went to check Twitter after reading the news about this hack but nothing. That on it self is really bad; this hack went for a couple hours they should have put a big red warning on the top of the website to warn people about this huge scam; the victims (the ppl who sent bitcoins after reading the scam messages) are ultimately those paying the price of this, and I wonder what will be Twitter´s response to all this.

I have seen many times every time Elon Musk tweets, below in the comment replies is just a bucnh of bitcoin scams. It was the same scam you could see for months under Trump´stwitter comments, every reply was that Dr whatever and then some bitcoin scammers pretending to be Elon tweeting. I reported it at least 20 times and i saw it happen for over a month,. every single tweet from trump and elon were being targeted. I suspect the people behind that scam are probably related to this one too. The writting of the scam tweets is very similar too.
They also hacked Biden´s account, thats gonna be super embarrassing for all the idiots who actually saw his tweet and send "Biden" bitcoins. Those ppl maybe deserve it for being idiots, who fuck would "send Bitcoins" to Joe Biden and expect the double of your money :D??
