I wonder if this would allow them access to the devices these accounts are connected to. Imagine How much access a user gives Twitter to their photos, phonebooks, and other stuff. I know this was just a bitcoin scam, but the content on those devices could be worth more..

Realistically someone screwed up big time they have an unlimited IT budget.
No excuses, if the wrong thing was actually tweeted from some of these accounts people could have died.
