I'm setting up my kitchen like a Chipotle assembly line.

Anyone tried their soda? Almost picked some up tonight.

Malta Goya is their molasses-based cola-like concoction. It's polarizing, but if you like it you'll love it. (I love it.)

6
Pray4USA 6 points ago +6 / -0

Me too! It works! Everyone eats healthier!

29
LaPastillaEscarlata 29 points ago +29 / -0

Technically Goya is Puerto Rican but it works great for Mexican food too.

21
South_Florida_Guy 21 points ago +21 / -0

Came here to say this, so I'll updoot you instead!

14
Hainova 14 points ago +14 / -0

It is puertorican but all of us Hispanics love it. No dumb ass libs are gonna take goya from us

12
I_Am_My_Own_God 12 points ago +12 / -0

That was my first thought when I heard them start with the boycotting. Thinking, you really think it's a good idea to get between Hispanics and their food? Good luck with that.

Never interupt your enemy while they are making a mistake.

2
Pray4USA 2 points ago +3 / -1

Agree completely! I think Goya is a little expensive though. It’s been awhile since I looked at them. Your user name is intriguing.

3
LaPastillaEscarlata 3 points ago +3 / -0

Damn straight.

13
CoyoteTan 13 points ago +13 / -0

Puerto Rican AKA American.

5
Wattsford 5 points ago +5 / -0

Man we have the best stuff

8
OnlyAmerica 8 points ago +8 / -0

Technically American. Founded by Spanish immigrants (from Spain).

From their own website:

Founded in 1936 by Don Prudencio Unanue and his wife Carolina, both from Spain, the Goya story is as much about the importance of family as it is about achieving the American dream.

3
LaPastillaEscarlata 3 points ago +3 / -0

They migrated from Puerto Rico to Spain.

Also from the site: In 1936, Don Prudencio Unanue and his wife Carolina, immigrants who first migrated to Puerto Rico from Spain, started Goya in a small storefront on Duane Street in Lower Manhattan.

Spez: You're right, I read it too quickly and thought it said they went from PR to Spain.

I like all the stuff you can do with a small selection of ingredients. "Well I got some ground beef, but I also have chicken...should I cook the chicken for fajitas or shred it for tacos? The latter sounds good...oh I should try that with queso!"

I have the gene that causes cilantro to taste and smell like soap.. so I'll pass on that. The rest is good though. I love Mexican food.

I'd rather just use the hot sauce! I love me some heat

Keep cilantro in a paper bag, or in a container with some paper towels in it. It'll last longer. Same thing with the Mexican raddish if you slice them

rooftoptendie 10 points ago +10 / -0

can confirm its good. I personally wouldn't call it life changing, but Im scandinavian and we don't really do "exotic". We're more likely to judge the tastiness of a food based on how white it is.

mayo > ketchup

sour cream > guacamole

potatoes > corn chips

white rice > brown rice

almond cookies > raisin oatmeal cookies

milk > juice

alfredo > puttanesca

5
ChelseaHubbell 5 points ago +5 / -0

I must be part Scandinavian because the only difference on that list is

sour cream < guacamole

milk < juice

I'm not big into milk unless it's cheese or butter

7
rooftoptendie 7 points ago +7 / -0

so then it would be like

swiss > smoked gouda

mozzarella > colby jack

asagio > parmesan

havarti > cheddar

on the whiteness scale, cream cheese is the king of cheeses.

rooftoptendie 7 points ago +7 / -0

If I had a choice it would hands down be mayo over ketchup. But sour cream is even better, and if you'll notice, it is whiter than mayo. That's why its better. That's how scandinavian tastebud logic works. A bit disturbing perhaps, but we keep to ourselves.

5
Aquamine-Amarine 5 points ago +5 / -0

I'll have to try that sometime, sounds amazing.

Keep a bottle in your purse?

4
Pray4USA 4 points ago +4 / -0

I washed parsley like two weeks ago and put it on a paper towel and stored it in a plastic container in the refrigerator. It is still fresh from two weeks ago! I started doing that with all my vegetables. They last forever! Even lettuce! I have NOT tried cilantro yet. I’ll bet it’s the same thing. I hate buying it because I always throw it away. I don’t leave vegetables in the plastic bags from the grocery store anymore. It’s a little like food prep. It Really works!! Oh man I’m dyin about it now. I used to throw so much away. Ok I had to share this about the cilantro. Peace ✌️

4
ChelseaHubbell 4 points ago +4 / -0

If you find you are throwing away a lot of cilantro or parsley try making some Argentinian chimichurri sauce. It's good if you like garlic.

2
Pray4USA 2 points ago +2 / -0

Sounds awesome! I will remember that. Thanks Chelsea

2
UrbanCommando 2 points ago +2 / -0

OLE Crema in the squeeze bottle is my go-to! I love that stuff.

"Crema" is amazing. Also don't forget Goya makes some great cookies. The chocolate "Maria" cookies are great. Not too sweet and great for dunking.

I do lots of big meals in one of my many pressure cookers, vacuum seal the leftovers and toss them in the deep freezer. Then when I don't feel like cooking, I just throw a bag in the sous vide and it's meal time whenever we feel like eating. Beans and rice, frijoles, chili, soups and stews, meatballs and marinara, and on and on. Even seasoned ground beef for tacos and burritos. Bag of beef, bag of refried beans and it's Mexi-night.

I have 3 Instant Pots of various sizes and an old school BIG pressure cooker that's only used for canning. The Instant Pots and sous vide are real game changers when it comes to home cooking.

Check out Guga's channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpFuaxD-0PKLolFR3gWhrMw

And there are no shortage of really good Instant Pot channels for recipes. I can make frijoles in 2-3 hours with no soaking of the dried beans. If you're a fan of yogurt, you can make a big batch in 24 hours (12 hour culture, 12 hour whey strain time). All you need is a starter culture such as a small serving of plain yogurt with active cultures. Then you just use the last 1/4 cup of your yogurt to start the next batch. All you have to buy is the milk.

I think most people don't realize it's an ancap meme. Sometimes makes it funnier. Economy go brrr.

"ancap" who gives a fuck

8

7
ChelseaHubbell 7 points ago +7 / -0

Anarcho Capitalism falls apart at the non aggression principle. It assumes everyone else in the society follows the same rules. We have seen that is false if the schools and media are not strictly reinforcing that ideal.

4
don_piledrive_hilary 4 points ago +5 / -1

haha who the fuck are you?

I just think the way everyone comes up with a cute little label for themselves is pretty gay.

6
LamboLimo [S] 6 points ago +6 / -0

Didn't even notice that it's been used so many times to own the libs. Will keep in mind for next time, thanks pede.

Why the AnCap bowtie?

2
Mr_Dangerous 2 points ago +2 / -0

AnCaps hate Trump too.

2
libman 2 points ago +2 / -0

About half of AnCaps support Trump.

(Ex. Walter Block, Stefan Molyneux, now myself.)

5
SomeDiggity 5 points ago +5 / -0

Haha. That’s awesome!!

3
Verrerogo 3 points ago +5 / -2

Lots of Mediterranean people of all sorts eat this kind of food too. These plants grow in hot climates.

That said, Mexican cuisine is one of the world's premier, best liked, and most famous cuisines.

These are ingredients. You can do various things with them. Yankee stews, hummus, many things. Good solid food.

3
Amaroq64 3 points ago +3 / -0

I celebrated Cinco De Mayo by getting $90 worth of Taco Bell just to own the libs.

You know, because reeee capitalist tacos aren't real mexican.

3
MarxWasWrong 3 points ago +3 / -0

Wife was like wtf did you buy all these beans for.

It also demonstrates how we support our based legal immigrants.

I mean, not really when you think about it, but when has that been a concern.

2
crusadetiem 2 points ago +2 / -0

Getcha some lentejas and have lentils n rice. Good eating!

2
ChelseaHubbell 2 points ago +2 / -0

I premade burritos and quesadillas for lunch for the whole week. Add some fresh vegetables like a pico de gallo or a salad and you're all set.

Why is the an-cap mad?

3
Amaroq64 3 points ago +3 / -0

The meme template just uses an ancap.

Like the thumbs up smiley sunglasses one did before I edited the yellow out and made the template public. :)

2
Martin_RageTV 2 points ago +2 / -0

I don't get it. Why is an ANCAP zoomer mad at the Trump boomer?

Pretty sure an ANCAP would be fine with using market forces...
