Haha, I know the feels. I always wondered why sometimes your lowest effort produces good results. Could be related to over thinking, and refining it too much.

It is the sudden unexpected truth of the meme that hits you like a bursting water balloon that makes it effective. Some are polished, some are crude. What matters is that they are shared and make people stop and think. As Pedes, we don't want to tell people what to think, we just want them to have the facts and think for themselves.

yesterdays sticky of the new biden poll with biden at 100% and trump at 0% was hilarious. perfect example of this!

For us. To anyone who isn’t already up to speed with the topic, WHOOSH.

Yes. The low effort memes often have that impact. I've spent literally 60 seconds creating what I thought was a throwaway meme to come back a few hours later and be like: wtf😊

You have honestly changed my mind about watermarks. You are 100% correct.

True story. Ones that I work on for awhile get 20 likes. Then I made some half assed keyboard warrior meme and that shit blew up like a freedom boner on the 4th of july.

KEK, i know how that goes, fren...

No argument from me other that these MEMES must be shared and seen.

Red pilling has become our duty in these crazy times. From the crude to high polished MEME.

I LOVE THEM ALL

I contribute and spread the love of Pepe to the masses

Who cares where the bullet comes from as long as it hits its mark.

Lefty's are the vain ones who need PR departments.

"Does it scorn you?" "Good. I made that."

2
Autismo 2 points ago +3 / -1

I don't think OP is speaking from a position of wanting plaudits, more that if we redpill people and let them know this place exists, they too can become part of the pede family and partake and help create memes.

It's less about aggrandizing and more about growing our community.

I could see that, I don't quite think people are more inclined to share something that isn't watermarked per say.

Long as the meme is good it'll spread, but I suppose it might be discounted / ignored by some centrist or lefties if they knew it was from TD no matter how true it rang.

I do the exact same thing, personalized redpilling. It's been quite successful I'll be honest... And I say that as a leaf pede, I've converted a bunch of people, many of him now browse here regularly. Feels good man.

Love the idea! Also, could get into some 4D Meme warfare if we created liberal memes with Thedonald.win watermarked on it, then Lefties visit the site and bam: Red Pills for everyone. (I’m not suggesting we do that, but it’s out of the box ideas that could make the difference in The Great Meme War of 2020.)

Necrovoter 12 points ago +12 / -0

It can backfire too, as some people will automatically reject something with President Trump's name. Some of the best redpills are ones that people don't realize support Trump, but after they have accepted the memes' concept, they later realize that it is what Trump represents as well.

I'll go out on a limb here and speak for everyone..

When it comes to memes watermarks are insulting, IMO. If you care more about the intellectual property ownership of a meme more than the message of the meme/the meme itself then you are misguided. Especially a platform taking credit. This is why i syarted screenshotting memes off reddit woth their recent watermark BS. The only exception I see to this is if it's artwork. I guess you could consider memes art too but idk, it's different.

This general disdain for watermarks stems back to ancient internet history

No. Fuck watermarks. No one wants them.

If you need credit for a meme then maybe rethink your cause.

MAGAdadUSA 3 points ago +3 / -0

Totally agree

2
barwhack 2 points ago +2 / -0

As long as the watermark is subtle. I like the anonymization of our memes as they spread, and I think it contributes to their spread... it's a feature.

NO WATERMARKS ON MEMES. IT DEFEATS THE PURPOSE.

2
WesternManDotOrg 2 points ago +2 / -0

No. Let the public think memes are coming at them from all angles, originating from all over the place, and spreading everywhere. They will have less of an impact on perception of public opinion if they are perceived to all have been created by a single source.

To be fair, not all of the good memes originate from here.

Many are repost from the Chan's... Or other places.

Also, watermarking a meme is something shit sites do.

1
TheLittleLebowski 1 point ago +1 / -0

Disagree. They did this on plebbit where if you take a screenshot it marks it as from plebbit and attaches a username. If I make a meme and someone else steals it and reposts it for fake internet points, it's then linked to them/the website, as if the website created that content. If a content creator wants to watermark his/her own stuff, they're free to. Sure, it might generate more traffic, but in the long run it disincentivizes original content creation.

Steve_OH 0 points ago +3 / -3

What is needed is a checkbox when posting an image to add a watermark that is pre-approved

0
cybertoke 0 points ago +1 / -1

Yeah, ive been thinking the same thing.

Along the lines of funnyjunk or 9gag. where so much of the reason people go there is seeing memes with the watermark.

0
Chach24 0 points ago +1 / -1

Could be censored because of water mark best to make sure they get out there and stay out there.

0
JustInTime2_ 0 points ago +2 / -2

Agreed. Do it.

ChadManspread -1 points ago +1 / -2

Watermarking is easy enough. If you can meme, you can watermark. Many programs have a watermark tool. Just slap the address on and upload!

“My administration has removed 16 meme regulations for every 1 new meme regulation.”

Watermarks kill spread.

I’ve been at this for years and the only times I’ve had my own work circle back to me, and I mean every time, it was a non-watermarked meme.

That said, I used a few watermarks when TD.win was new, to advertise TD.win itself.
