The creative team did an excellent job incorporating a ton of IPs into a cohesive universe. Really a blessing that comic fans got anything nearly this good. If we never got another superhero movie I'd be cool with the story ending there.

It would have made much more sense for him to continue leading while able, go out to fight, then abdicate to his second due to him being miserable as a leader and knowing the second could take care of things. But we couldn't have something like that, because they had to throw in one more anti-male message.
That's a fair criticism. The original Spider-Man is the only character that comes to mind who was constantly crying like a baby. It's good to make these characters flawed and human, but we also want them to be respectable and believable.
That scene was awful on all levels. Even from a costuming standpoint. Prior scenes got the guys fighting in mud, ash clouds, plasma-fire... And then all these immaculate women appear, shining, pristine. All in the same location, despite their factions being split apart. Were they having tea time while the men fought? This wasn't the start of the battle, it was a good while into it.
And from a logic standpoint, USING THE INFINITY GAUNTLET, Thanos could only mildly inconvenience Cpt. Marvel. Stun her for a moment without even superficial damage to her costume, let alone herself. Spiderman now has the gauntlet. Instead of helping him retreat... Why not just kill Thanos? He no longer has the magic fly-swatter that temporarily repels Mary Sues.

Hulk is such a tough character to cast for because of his comic book history, how he is portrayed in the comics, how Bruce Banner is portrayed in the comics. It's almost impossible to strike a balance.
