I found a good church, first sermon I attended our pastor called out the sin of homosexuality. He wasn't afraid to "offend" anyone, I knew I found a new home. This don't judge thing has been taken way off the cliff. We can and should call out wickedness. It's about a 30 minute drive but it's worth it.
This don't judge thing has been taken way off the cliff.
It's something it was never meant to be. "Judge not" isn't the entire saying. It finishes with "...lest ye be judged."
It's an exhortation against hypocrisy, not against judgment of any kind.
In Christian terms, it doesn't mean to be accepting of anything and everything. It means not to view anyone as irredeemable because we are all sinners. It's not your job to pass final judgment on someone, that's God's job.
Your job is to do your best to help that person stop sinning, not to accept their sins.
I'm lucky enough to have a couple of priests who are still willing to call out sin, whether or not the current Pope wants them to, and I thank them after every Mass for it. Glad to hear you have found a strong pastor.
