Our county has rising numbers. We have a low population county. While I am under no assumption that the mask will suffice in a medical situation, it will temporarily reduce the viral load while in the supermarket.

COVID 19 virus particle size is 125 nanometers (0.125 microns); the range is 0.06 microns to .14 microns plus while the COVID-19 particle is around 0.1 microns in size, but it is always bonded to something larger. The N95 mask filters down to 0.3 microns. The virus attaches to water droplets or aerosols (i.e. really small droplets) that are generated by breathing, talking, coughing, etc. These consist of water, mucus protein and other biological material and are all larger than 1 micron.
The N95 filter indeed is physically around the 0.3 micron size. But that doesn’t mean it can only stop particles larger than that. The masks are actually best for particles either larger or smaller than that 0.3 micron threshold. The COVID-19 virus itself is indeed smaller than the N95 filter size, but the virus always travels attached to larger particles that are consistently snared by the filter. And even if the particles were smaller than the N95 filter size, the erratic motion of particles that size and the electrostatic attraction generated by the mask means they would be consistently caught as well.
You've now seen the studies. You choose to ignore. You have your little hypothesis explaining how the N95 would be effective. It's a great hypothesis. But you're wrong. Learn to admit when you were fooled and move on. This is our last communication.
The other point is masks outside of a medical environment or masks on people with facial hair fail. No question bandanas and masks made by my sister are also fails. I stood in a room with a cigar smoker and a cloud of smoke and each of us tested our mask to watch the airflow around the mask, bandana, etc.
A proper fit N95 can work for short periods of time, single use in a medical environment. The problem is not for walking through a market.

N95 masks and other types also provide ample protection from airborne virii. Masks rated for allergens filter out allergens. Masks created to filter out gasses filter out gasses. Simple cloth coverings also stop the large dispersal of the particles you exhale (so they aren't completely useless).

The virus attaches to water droplets or aerosols (i.e. really small droplets) that are generated by breathing, talking, coughing, etc. These consist of water, mucus protein and other biological material and are all larger than 1 micron.
The N95 filter indeed is physically around the 0.3 micron size. But that doesn’t mean it can only stop particles larger than that. The masks are actually best for particles either larger or smaller than that 0.3 micron threshold. The COVID-19 virus itself is indeed smaller than the N95 filter size, but the virus always travels attached to larger particles that are consistently snared by the filter. And even if the particles were smaller than the N95 filter size, the erratic motion of particles that size and the electrostatic attraction generated by the mask means they would be consistently caught as well.
You've now seen the studies. You choose to ignore. You have your little hypothesis explaining how the N95 would be effective. It's a great hypothesis. But you're wrong. Learn to admit when you were fooled and move on. This is our last communication.
The other point is masks outside of a medical environment or masks on people with facial hair fail. No question bandanas and masks made by my sister are also fails. I stood in a room with a cigar smoker and a cloud of smoke and each of us tested our mask to watch the airflow around the mask, bandana, etc.
A proper fit N95 can work for short periods of time, single use in a medical environment. The problem is not for walking through a market.
No study pre-2020 shows masks to be effective. The reason is in 2010 they began the push to mandate vaccine for all health professionals. Some did not want to take the vaccine and asked to use masks instead which was proven to not be effective in a medical environment as an alternative to a vaccine.

There are plenty of N95 masks that don't have those exhaust valves and you must be new to the world as the material in masks filter out what you breathe in and exhale at the same time. It's like magic apparently that according to idiots suddenly stop working as soon as you exit a hospital or never worked as they were a scam since their creations centuries ago.

I'd admit I was wrong if I were, but masks designed for a specific purpose do indeed work for that purpose. I gave examples of scuba masks and astronaut's helmets as if masks designed for a purpose didn't work they would also be useless. N95 masks and other types also provide ample protection from airborne virii. Masks rated for allergens filter out allergens. Masks created to filter out gasses filter out gasses. Simple cloth coverings also stop the large dispersal of the particles you exhale (so they aren't completely useless).
Nobody was arguing that scuba masks don't work dude. Nobody was arguing about "astronaut masks."
And the sources I've cited (the CDC, The New England Jounal of Medicine, etc...) specificallly say cloth masks do not stop the spread of airborne viruses. So, the fact that they "stop large particles" is moot if there is no evidence that they actually make a measurable difference in stopping the virus (which is supposedly the whole point). By your own rationale, simple cloth masks ARE NOT DESIGNED TO STOP AIRBORNE VIRUS TRANSMISSION. This is why the box the cloth masks come in specifically say they do not protect against viruses.
So, instead of spending your time thinking up more bullshit straw man arguments, maybe you should read the cited sources.
You have tons of reseach showing masks don't work. You have Fauci saying masks don't work. You have the Surgeon General (previously saying) masks dont work. And you have the manufacturers of the masks themselves saying the masks don't work....
...yet here we are.
Go educate yourself. I suggest watching a video of how what you exhale with every breath is not dispersed as far when you cover your mouth and nose. Simple psychics actually. Indeed, they don't filter out the smaller sized particles like the N95 or related masks do, but if you goal is to limit how far the cloud of crap you exhale with every breath then they are better than nothing at all.
You should also realize that even though the 0.1 micron covid-19 particles are 0.1 micron, that they always do stick to other larger particles when you exhale. The videos out there showing people what you exhale is informative. I just happened to learn about germs, virii and respiratory droplets in the 7th grade. This stuff isn't "new" to me, which is why the claims that masks designed for a purpose, such as filtering out virii don't do their job is asinine. It's not a political thing. It's just fact and science.
