I have struggled to find a term that describes the tendency of those with character flaws/evil or criminal intentions, to use virtue signalling to distract us from seeing through them.

General ‘Virtue Signalling’ is an attempt to bolster the ego and there is a recently coined category of narcissism called ‘Communal Narcissism’ that describes a psychopathological level of this behaviour. However, there isn’t a term that describes a deliberate attempt to hide criminal/evil intentions by virtue signalling specifically, as far as I know. So I thought I’d throw this term out there for debate.
