Imagine the long term consequences of a generation of kids having a several year hole in their education because they were frantically forced to take classes online or miss school entirely.
I can guarantee you that kids will not be held to the same standards online and will acquire lifelong knowledge gaps that impact the rest of their education and their careers.
But protesting police for woke points was totally worth.
I’m disgusted.
Woke points for liberals are the single most important thing in their lives. It’s like religious fanaticism.
I can't grasp the problem here. Almost everyone in the United States is a high school graduate and those who aren't most likely have relatives who did get their diploma. It's no big deal to teach k-8 grade Math and English. Amazon has plenty of refresher books online to help a parent remember whatever details were lost to the passage of time. Science at that level is pretty basic and with a good age appropriate book -- not a problem either.
All parents need is confidence that they can cover the material. One on one instruction always goes more quickly than one teacher trying to teach thirty children.
The government has done an excellent job of convincing parents that there's some big secret to teaching. There's not. Just patience, encouragement, and a willingness to let the child master one skill before introducing another. It's the third point where most schools fail children -- they push through on a timetable and ready or not the concepts keep being introduced.
With a parent doing instruction -- as much time as needed can be taken because no other student's needs have to be considered. A win-win situation.
It really does take far less time when its one parent to one student though. You'd be amazed how much kids can absorb when they don't have the distraction of other kids around and they don't have to worry about feeling foolish for asking questions.
Anyhow, if they decide not to open schools you'll have the kids at home anyway. And if they are K-8 -- you can do this even though you think you can't. You'd be amazed at the stuff that you don't even think you remember that seems to miraculously come back to you.
Yea that’s not what’s gonna happen. What’s gonna happen is the students are gonna take tests online with a lockdown browser, google the answers on their phone, and the school will pass that off as evidence of having provided an education so they can keep getting their funding.
That’s how college works.
College is another issue altogether. Personally, (and I will admit that I am a rare exception) I preferred self-study and take a test classes. But I am a visual learner. If I had to listen to a professor drone on for 60 minutes my mind tended to wander. But put a book in front of me with the same information and I was golden.
Unfortunately, most students are geared toward auditory learning because that's the way schools are set up. That's the reason these kids are having problems with these computer based courses. There will be a few kids (like me) who will actually do better with a computer and no teacher. But most people don't even realize they are visual learners until something happens which brings it forcefully to their attention.
The reason they struggle is there is no accountability. They can cheat on the first few sections and then just keep going until they’re in over their heads
This is what? Grammar school or High School?
At this point, I think this may be the luckiest generation of children as many of them are being saved from a life of languishing in the welfare sate's babysitting and indoctrination system.
Anything towards the permanent destruction of the public school system is a win in my book.
My teachers were tenure leeches. Never taught me shit and put me in a corner when I questioned them. I learned early that the "Rights" they taught me about. didn't apply to me.
I would put more of the blame on the teacher's union than the teachers themselves.
Same, my gf is a teacher, and she wants schools to start back up probably more than anybody else I know. I'm sure some teachers are cucks and back this. But I can promise there's plenty that are just as outraged, if not moreso than we are. It the unions, they're corrupt as shit
Thanks for sharing pede. This was my hunch, but now its confirmed.
I'm glad, and if it helps, I love in MA, which is pretty blue. So if there are teachers here that are furious, I can only imagine how frustrated those in more red states are.
