They don't care about the data. If they did, we wouldn't even be in this situation.

My mother is a TDS hard core liberal. I absolutely nuked her bullshit white privilege argument from orbit with crime statistics, cited sources and FBI/DOJ records and statistics.

I showed her how a black kid with the same grades as a white kid is more likely to get scholarships from college. How systemic racism in todays age does not exist by definition (there are no laws saying X minority can't do Y). How 9% of the black population commits around 50% of the homicides in this country, cops are more likely to shoot unarmed white men than unarmed black men and 20,000 more white woman are raped by black men than the opposite every year.

"I'm sorry, I just choose not to believe in hate. You don't get to school me with your facts. My opinion differs from yours."

You cannot convince them. They are gone.

Can you link me some of those statistics so I can send them to my TDS friends as well? I can’t imagine what it’s like having a Lib mother

She's brilliant in every other way. She's kind, loving, iron willed, stalwart, knows how to do more with her hands than any two parents put together.

But on politics, she just does this absolute nose dive. She's the one who taught me to think how I do, so when I show data, statistics and cited sources and she flippantly dismisses them and doubles down on her indoctrination, it's infuriating.

It's frustrating and insulting. That's what it's like to have a lib mother when talking politics.

We just stick to the weather and family now.

Anyway, here's quite a dump. Some of the statistics are highlighted in specific tables, others you'll have to hunt for yourself. Some of the notions I mentioned don't even need much scrutiny, like black admissions to college. It's almost impossible to find honest reporting on the subject, but in the collective mental furniture of people: they know there's tons of black only colleges, they know there's affirmative action and they know racial scholarships are more likely to benefit black students. White and especially asian kids have to get in on merit alone, and those are the families that are often paying exorbitant rates to offset the scholarships colleges give out to minorities. Still, I have included some sources and interesting links.

Best of luck with your arguments. I find that no matter how prepared I am, the results are the same when dealing with TDS liberals. You'd be better off teaching tricks to a pig.

I think there is nevertheless a need to keep rebutting liberals even if you can't convince them rather than to resign yourself that they won't understand and stay silent. First, a lot of the ignorance flourishes because people post this kind of stuff to virtue signal to their echo chamber thinking (mostly correctly) that they will just get pats on the back from others. Constantly haranguing them undermines their motives and should result in less BS from them over time. Second, people out there susceptible to reason as well as unformed minds looking for a place to belong need to see facts and logic and the people who stand by them. You are speaking past your mother and having an impact on others whether you realize it or not.

Hahah I got a similar thing yesterday with a friend of mines mom.

Posted about how Trump makes fun of handicap people. I told her it wasn’t true.

Right off bat she said I was essentially an enemy for having different thoughts and principles.

A few of her friends joined in and all I said was for them to have a good day, but I believe in facts.

She blocked me but I saw what she wrote to them to tell them. She basically said along lines of:

“Sorry friends I am blocking him not because we disagree, but because of what he supports...”

I just laughed, whatever. She is one calling me an enemy for simply disagreeing, and then her comment was icing. What a sad person.

My liberal doctor friend scoffs that death reporting lags & can’t be used.

Ask him if he thinks SARS-CoV-2 will die off the same way as the 2003 SARS-CoV-1 did after 10 months? That would be end of August 2020.

Lags what a month? What an idiot.

Yep, it’s always 2 weeks into the future. Just like global warming is 10 years into the future. Once you get to that future date, they just lather, rinse and repeat. Keeps the fear factor going indefinetly.

SARS-CoV-1 appeared in November 2002 in the Guangdong province of southern China. No areas of the world are reporting transmission of SARS since the end of the global epidemic in July 2003,

This is what you are looking for:

“To properly assess the mortality risk associated with the coronavirus pandemic, it is necessary to examine deaths and death rates from all causes, not just deaths and death rates from COVID-19.”

They are asking this question because it is clear the Covid-19 numbers are highly inflated from other causes of death.

“During January-May 2020, the CDC and Department of Health and Human Services show about 120,000 total deaths in California, which is similar to the number during January-May 2018.”

They are comparing this current flu season against the last big pandemic that hit us in 2017-2018 Flu season. The numbers look the same.

“Thus, the 2020 total death rates in California can be approximated by the 2018 total death rates, which are in the CDC’s WONDER database. I focus here on those under 65 years of age because they include students and most working-age people, and because COVID-19 deaths comprise only 3% of the total deaths in this age range during 2020.”

Testing shows now the virus is much less lethal. The sad reality is the speculated deaths contributed primarily of elderly people. Now that the test show this is not the case, the numbers decrease rapidly.
