So... allocating an absurd amount of police force to protecting PAINT. That's not a mural. It's just some giant yellow letters on a road. It's easy and relatively inexpensive to create a new one, or repair it, if anything were to happen to it. How much does that much security cost per day? How long to they expect to continue watching those stupid letters? I mean, if I wanted to deface it, I'd just wait a month or two for the security to lessen, or deface BLM messages elsewhere.
Meanwhile, the number of murders, robberies, etc are record-highs in NY for any recent history. So, instead of protecting actual life and property, they're protecting a political message.
In other words, political power is more important than life or property.
Cops protecting a mural for a movement that hates cops. Wow the irony. And BLM wants to defund and abolish police, but it’s ok for police to protect THEIR mural?? This world has gone mad.
I like this idea, and artistically you could consider it part of the mural. You know, because everywhere BLM goes a bunch of police need to be called shortly after.
It's much worse than protecting a mural or giaant yellow letters on a road; it is using taxpayer-funded police, whose sole purpose is to maintain the safety of said taxpayers, to protect a racist slogan placed on public property and paid for by public funds.
Endorsing such actions violates a whole bunch of laws, and creates a public forum that entitles anyone and everyone to paint their opinions on public streets.

They should park police cars with flashing lights as a road-bock around the 'mural'.
Attracts attention, pisses of the locals who can't get by.
Maybe even post a sign ' By order of the Mayor, this precious BLM mural shall not be maligned."
