Nothing is limited by feasibility or scruples.
Here's a few ideas to get the ball rolling for both State and Federal legislation.
Legislative mandate to FURLOUGH Government employees FIRST in the event of any government shutdown
Legislation to explicitly limit states of emergency to defined periods of time
Declaration of states of emergency trigger snap elections within one year of declaration
Designate Big Tech platforms as Publishers
Repeal Smith-Mundt
Defund Government Schools
National No-License Concealed Carry
No Property Tax on Primary Residences
Legislation that punishes False Rape and Hate Crime Claims with the same sentencing the crime itself would have.
Legislative districts determined by zip code, no redistricting
Loser pays litigation reform
What say you?
The property tax thing would be left to the states. A lot of school districts (typically the better ones) are funded almost exclusively through property taxes.
Edit: overall a great list!
Schools and other services (if any) funded through property tax should be funded differently. Say a local sales tax for example. It would provide more visibility to residents in the area of their tax burden. People would know that living in city XYZ has a higher sales tax to fund their high end schools and services. People also have the choice of living elsewhere with lower taxes if they choose.
Private Property, when fully owned, should belong to the owners permanently. Taxing it means you don't own it. Same with car registrations. I believe the money is needed (raised by car registration), but when the car is my property you cant tax it. What's next? Taxing the number of TV's in our house similar to how the UK does? Taxing refrigerators? How about taxing the number of bedrooms in a house? Computers?
Additionally, with income tax - Who owns my labor? Me or the government? If it's my labor, you can't tax it. So I guess the government owns my labor... What about a tax on my thoughts or my body? Where does it end?
Property tax is a tax on assets that have been bought with taxed income (income tax) at taxed price (sales tax). It’s a tax designed to destroy the accumulation of wealth, and therefore it’s a tax on the stabilization of your life. It’s an immoral tax that should be removed, no matter what it currently funds.
Furthermore, it perpetuates poverty if it’s the main funding of schools. Impoverished area—> low amount of property tax
Low amount of prop. Tax—>underfunded school
Underfunded school—> unprepared citizens
Unprepared citizens—> low wage or unemployed
Low wage or unemployed—> lower property values=impoverished area.
Good logic train there. I’d rather get rid of the income tax.
Less income tax -> more money in pocket
More money in pocket -> more ability to buy property
More ability -> increase demand
Increased property values -> more property tax
Property tax goes to funding schools and people have a greater stake in their community because their living somewhere incentivizes taking care of community.
That’s my take on it.
