In the early 90s, I was a secondary ed minor. I never taught because it was such bullshit. Anyway, one of the things that was pressed on us was never to tell a child they had a wrong answer. So to hear someone say that it could be argued that Covid caused a crash reminds me of the crap that teachers were supposed to put up with because no one can be wrong- ever.
Same here! Got my secondary math teaching degree in the early 90's. My intern teaching included so many meetings about "no child left behind", which was utter garbage. I knew I would never subject any kid of mine to a public classroom. Fast forward to now and I have two successful college graduates and a successful high school graduate as children. I'm so glad that I homeschooled and I might not have done it had it not been for my being able to see on the inside during my intern teaching.
That's what happens when parents and schools don't teach objective thinking...or ANY THINKING.
