I know you’re being sarcastic, but embalming preserves tissue, chemo kills tissue. They couldn’t be more different

Embalming preserves dead tissue. If the tissue wasn't already dead, the chemicals in the embalming fluid (mainly formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde, methanol) would definitely kill it.

People soak blunts and joints in PCP that is dissolved in an embalming fluid solution, they call it wet.

I agree with George Carlin about preserving dead bodies, "What kind of Medieval, superstitious bullshit is this?", plow those bodies under for farming.

Duncan trussel talks about this in his new show, midnight gospel. Embalming came about during the civil war when they had to preserve the bodies long enough to be transported (by wagon) back to their home states so they could have a viewing and proper funeral. After the war, they had to convince people to still buy their services so they wouldn’t go out of business. But yeah. It’s not natural and pretty useless in today’s day and age.

Yeah, but "preserving" corpses in tombs and crypts goes back to the beginning of civilization, embalming is just incidental.

Right. But only for Kings. Not the common plebs.
