Thinking like this is why we’re in the mess we’re in, time to stop taking the high road and pretending there’s some set of rules to follow.

There are rules to follow. The rules are that we’re allowed to make Supreme Court Justice appointments whenever we want so long as we have the numbers and there’s a vacancy. We have the numbers and there’s soon to be a vacancy. Any “rule” other than that is NOT a rule, it’s a “suggestion”.
