But they claim up and down the mask is to protect others, and not themselves. Which makes no sense. How does a cloth mask keep your germs from spreading, but doesn't keep others' germs from spreading?
Masks don't filter out the particles already airborne, they only filter the particles when they first leave your body and are larger.
The point of mask wearing is to stop people spreading it, not so much to stop people from getting it. It's a team effort. "Do onto others."
Easy to relate example: Take a garden hose with a sprayer. When the water comes out, its a big stream/big drops. But stand 15 ft away from the water spraying out - now you feel only a fine mist. The longer water droplets (or spit, saliva, mucus, etc) are in the air, the smaller they get.
This is why the cloth mask on your face prevents things going out, not coming in.
Nowhere, not EVER, has a government, state agency, hospital, scientist, or doctor ever claimed that wearing a mask will directly prevent you from getting Covid-19 or any other airborne virus/bacteria, for that matter. They have made it quite clear from the beginning that the purpose of mask wearing is to stop the spread - which indirectly helps you to not get covid yourself. This is where simps that haven't passed 2nd grade like the woman in the OP photo are apparently confused.
Someone who is infected and wearing a PROPER mask PROPERLY has basically a 1% or less chance of spreading the disease to others via the airborne route. Likewise, an infected non-mask wearing individual who is coughing and sneezing in a grocery store has probably coated just about every item in the grocery store with the virus and will infect hundreds of people (depending on how busy the grocery store is).
"BuT cLoth MaSks doNt WoRk U nEed N95!!"
Dude, here's an easy experiment. Take a sheet of printer paper, and some ground pepper. Hold the paper in front of your face, and then trigger your sneeze reflex with the pepper. Note how wet the paper is. Now, get a new sheet of paper and your wife's pantyhose. Hold the pantyhose over your face, do the same thing. Note how much drier the paper is. Derp. If pantyhose, which is pourous as fuck, can significantly reduce how much bodily fluids you expel, then a cloth mask with much more tightly woven fibers sure as fuck can.
If 100% of people wore masks, covid would have been over by now and we could have been back to normal. But nah, instead of just wearing the damn things and getting back to normal, we'd all rather whine about the tyrant Democrat govs and mayors, without stopping to consider that maybe we are just enabling them and giving them reasons to keep everything shut down.
I'm in Upstate NY. I still can't fucking work and I'm going broke. Cuomo (D), who I have hated with a passion for nearly a decade, still won't let us get back to normal because our Covid numbers are aren't declining enough. I hate that he won't let us, I really do, but then I remember that if we just used common sense and improved our numbers, the fucker would have no reason keep us from working.
You know what though, I call things like I see it. An apple is an apple. It's just how I raised. If I see a fellow Trump supporter at the ice cream stand not wearing a mask (as I did a few nights ago) I'm going to let them know they are an idiot. I dont care if you're white, black, a democrat, a republican, a young kid or an old fuddy-duddy. If you're an idiot, you're an idiot, and ima call you out on it.
I'm as freedom loving as the next person. But I was also raised with respect. If I see a sign on a business owner's door that says "masks required", I will respect that business owner's wishes on HIS private property. I am not a fucking disrespectful leftist twat that thinks I can get everything my way at the expense of everyone else.
So much bullshit in your examples. How about the sick person coughing and sneezing anywhere stays the fuck home? How about some science to back up your claims including particle size? How about this for an example..imagine installing a chain link fence and expecting it to keep all mosquitos out of your yard.
And how do you keep a sick person at home, without the govt mandating everyone must stay home, which is a far greater travesty against our freedoms than them just telling us to wear masks?
If we can't trust people to wear masks (and still be able to go anywhere they want) how can we trust them to stay at home? Lol
Sorry but I'm not advocating the government to mandate lockdowns either. It's common sense to stay home if one is sick, but I'm not in favor of locking down or forcing masking up either, as it does nothing to stop the spread and likely causes more health problems in healthy people. More proof of that than of it preventing anything
I’d be fine with forced mask wearing if there was an end date. Or a statistic when reached it would be lifted. But there isn’t. It’s “when there’s a vaccine”. Well that could be never. And people are so whipped up now that they’re going to demand masks be worn for the entirety of every flu season.
I’ve seen enough bullshit go on for the past 4 years to see where this is going.
How much lower do the mortality rates need to be for you to understand how stupid you sound? You live in a leftist shithole run by leftist shitheads who are politically motivated. Pretending that any virus stops existing because of masks is as stupid as pretending that rioters are immune.
This bullshit started to keep hospitals from being overloaded. Your focus --and anger--should be there. First, because the numbers have only weakened justification for panic and shutdown. Second, because there are NO metrics that will appease your broke-ass city leaders into re-opening as they're DEPENDING on covid-bailouts to cover pension and infrastructure money that isnt there.
Finally, yes, you are no better than a leftist twat. You're a fucking Karen, throwing fits at people who aren't doing what 'master' says, honestly BELIEVING you're pos city gives a fuck what reality should actually dictate.
Enjoy your street-murals, and cuomo-hero poster, you fucking dumbass.
I'm not in disagreement that Covid is overrated, and I don't think it's really that dangerous of a virus, however the fact still remains we can't work until the numbers go down - by decree of supreme leader Cuomo (who isn't budging an inch). He isn't getting voted out any time soon, so our choices are either not wearing the masks as some sort of protest against our freedoms being eroded (and he keeps the work restrictions in place), or we just wear the damn things like responsible adults and Cuomo can piss off when the numbers go down and we can all get back to work.
I'm a libertarian, I understand freedom bigly. But govs like Cuomo have our balls in a vice and I only can blame whiny ass anti-maskers at this point from letting me get back to work to support my family.
Some points to consider, but because there is so much gray data out there, you can't make any clear cut conclusions. So these statements are more general, because the data provided has been so wishy washy.
Only a very small % of people are actively infected at any time. We are talking 2-3 per 1,000 people.
These people are who you are saying should were masks, so the other 997 people don't need to be wearing one.
Almost everyone who is experiencing symptoms is going to self-quarantine. Some won't but most will. So basically, nobody really needs to wear a mask. And if you can be out and about with COVID, then who gives a fuck if you get sick.
Cuomo should be charged with manslaughter for the 5K elderly deaths he is responsible for.

And at the end of the day, mask up, lockdown forever, all for .002...same as the flu
