Generations before us have lived through several wars. During that? They tried their damnest to live life as normal. Scary shit's happening, but life must go on.
And now this generation encounters an itty bitty virus that kills <1% of the people that it infects, and then gets so unbelievably scared that they burn down their entire economy and want to completely restructure society and the way that we live, possibly forever, into this weird dystopian shit where every human is seen as a potential filthy virus-carrying threat, to the point that no social interaction is ever allowed anymore. And will probably try to do this again for every bad flu season.
Exactly this. America is soft and weak, pathetic really. Only a matter of time before our enemies come to take what they want. All they have to do is sneeze or put on Halloween mask and Americans will cower in their basements complaining on Reddit.
Worst of all is the stigma surrounding this virus. I know people who've had it, but they're terrified of discussing it. They've officially weaponized it against all of society.

What a difference.
