My sister is 8 months pregnant and is a stay at home mom with one child. She constantly has to chase my nephew around as he is around 2. She has to wear a mask at every store she goes to now and is constantly feeling sick and on the verge of passing out while this mask restricts her breathing. So she spoke with her doctor about getting an exemption from wearing a mask (commiefornia), and the doctor said it's not in the interest of everyone that she have an exemption. No more "personalized healthcare", now we get what is good for everyone. Not the individual. Welcome to the communal state liberals have come to delight in.

I'm sick of the "for the greater good" excuse. FUCK the greater good. everyone fend for themselves

The health and safety of a complete stranger is not my responsibility.

Sorry, not sorry. I won’t try to harm anyone, but I will not actively cripple daily activities of my life, and possibly harm myself, due to unfounded claims about safety “for the greater good”. Everyone is responsible for themselves. Do what you think is safe. If you want to wear a mask, go for it. But don’t make decisions like that for me. I am not responsible for your health.

It’s also in the greater good for people not to drink, smoke pot, sleep around with strangers, and weigh 400 lbs. When do those regulations start?

yes and no

the greater good matters when you are doing something overt... like you shouldnt be allowed to take or do something that harms the greater good because that kind of selfishness leads to destruction really fast

but this is not that

you should never be required to take affirmative action for the sake of the greater good

its two entirely different things. You should never be expected to sacrifice for the greater but likewise should never be allowed to take from the greater good for personal benefit. its common sense.

I'm not totally against the greater good argument, but how about going through the proper channels and following our basic constitutional rights?

If masks work, you can wear one of you see fit. Shouldn't matter if others don't.

It's about the election. I'm pretty sure it's a big deal in assumed swing states, and the fear mongering is trying to make the rest swing states

If people don't push back on the mask mandates, it will only get worse.

I have not and am trying my best to never wear a mask. They are useless and many studies have shown this.

With the HUGE corporate push next week to require masks at most places people shop. I have been trying to find local grocers and retail stores that give a choice.

The Home Depot Lowes one will be tough, but I will check out lumber places. Maybe Harbour Freight hasn't joined yet.

They are trying to squeeze us out and force conformity. Push back the best you can.

She just needs to say she has a medical condition, she doesn't have to PROVE it to anyone, especially a store clerk. She is protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Lefty Californians also abuse this loophole to bring their dogs into restaurants as "service dogs" because no shop owner can ask you to prove why you need the dog.

If I am wrong here someone please correct me.

"I have a medical condition" is all she has to say. No one is allowed to ask about medical conditions, so they have to take her word for it.

This advice should be stickied or in the sidebar because so many people seem to feel powerless against their states' mask laws.

covid is a COVIN

COVIN, fraud. A secret contrivance betwen two or more persons to defraud and prejudice another of his rights. Co. Litt 357, b; Com. Dig. Covin, A; 1 Vin. Abr. 473. Vide Collusion; Fraud.

She should print out one of those cards and just not wear a mask.

So I completely relate to this.

I am a mom and of course have my young daughter with me now wherever I go... now I can’t go anywhere. I can’t do grocery shopping, can’t run to Walmart, nothing because they require the mask and I fundamentally to my CORE disagree with wearing one being mandated by the government—as well as having asthma and claustrophobia.

It’s absolutely miserable. It’s been miserable for months... and it’s one thing to be combative about it by yourself but when I have her with me it’s just entirely different.

Notice how its our science that is wrong and their science is right. Our health and beliefs are unimportant, their beliefs supercede ours. They are the selfish ones, they are thr ones disregarding what we believe is healthy.

Do you have relatives in another state that would be willing to let your sister and her child stay for an extended visit? Other than that, I can't think of any practical solution to help her.

Doctor needs to go. For the greater good.
