This is stage one of the flip. They have not really gone after 'virtue signalling' yet. It's too powerful of a phrase.

  • Step one is to classify it as something tangible.

  • Step two is to redefine that in terms of 'hate speach' ie: "The phrase is only used to accuse good, caring people of being narcissists."

  • Step three is to attach it to one of the left's synonyms for 'evil.' "It's a racist dogwhistle," or "a white supremacist mating call," or just a good old fashioned "Christians/conservatives use it to target the deranged and debased people sinning in the streets as if their behavior shouldn't be celebrated like Sodom and Gomorrah."

To be fair masks don't really help that much, especially the bullshit homemade cloth masks that most people wear. Fortunately they aren't actually needed in the first place though.

Indeed. Most of the cloth face coverings or various face masks I see people wearing provide just a little teeny bit of protection from a Virus with a 99.8% survival rate. The only "need" I see is the need to appease fearful people so if wearing a mask will get the general public out of their houses and back to work I'll do that. I know it's illogical to wear something that doesn't protect you that much and claim you're being protected, but the entire reasoning behind wearing one is to simply get people over their fear and also because I personally think I look damned cool in one.

However, to state that masks, like the N95 rated ones, don't work is a lie. There's all sorts of various masks that could filter out the virus particles and then like you said there's other's that really don't do much. Just to deny facts and pick on objects that can't fight back is pretty stupid in my opinion.

Yes, I agree there that a properly designed and fitted mask (plus eye protection) is actually the only way to avoid exposure in a contaminated environment.

From what I have read a cloth mask is about 2-5% effective. But on the other hand, the virus is apparently undetectable in normal breath, and has only been observed from coughing and sneezing. So it's not clear how asymptomatic people spread it (fecal/oral?) but I guess doubtful that a mask helps.

It hadn't occurred to me that masks could be helpful in getting people over a fear thus allowing them to resume normal behavior. My take on this is the exact opposite, that masks actually REMIND people to be afraid, and remind them to avoid normal behavior. In fact this is precisely one of the "pro mask" points in the WHO guidance on masking the general population. As such it seems counter to resuming normality.

If the problem is that people are afraid because they were told to be afraid, but there is no actual reason to be afraid, to me it seems the solution is obvious: tell them not to be afraid! It's not hard: count the cases properly, count the recovered/immune properly, count the deaths properly, point out that cases and deaths are going down while immunity is rising faster, say the crisis is over!

We know it's not really dangerous, and thanks to Cuomo and others we already accelerated the process among the most vulnerable.. so just pretend it's gone and problem solved. Sure, it's not really gone but it's gone enough that nobody will notice it any more, and it will be just one more unlikely cause of death that nobody cares about.. as it should be.

But this is not the story. The clear push is to continue creating a false sense of panic and dread and masking is 100% in service to that policy. And it's 100% about the election.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and the deep lack of self-esteem and self-awareness, are foundations of the modern woke left.

They never self-reflect and try to improve themselves: their problems are always someone else's fault. Trump, their employers, someone wearing a red hat. Always someone else.

They see their peers marrying, starting career jobs, buying homes, having children, and yet they have none of those things because they are children trapped in adult bodies. Without self-reflection, they can't grow.

I had a family member who was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. And while BPD is somewhat different from NPD, the behaviors are very similar. BPDs emotional aptitude stops developing at a young age. We've all seen 4 year olds throw temper tantrums because they haven't yet learned to control their emotions and see things from others perspectives. Borderlines are adults who still deal with their emotions like a 4 year old. Nothing is their fault and they have a complete inability to see things from an alternate perspective.

Well I didn't want to get dark and depressing . But she committed suicide over 2 years ago at the age of 30. And you likely know suicide rates of people with BPD are very high. We had never heard of BPD until a friend of the family suggested she may have it. By that time she was too far gone. Some time later she was officially diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder by a psychiatrist. She killed herself 2 months later.

If anyone is close to someone who has BPD (romantic or family) often the only thing you can do is save yourself from them. Because without them realizing their mental disorder (most of them dont), they become incredibly toxic and impossibly difficult people to be around.

I am not really familiar with BPD, but is it something that can be environmentally induced? (IE: Nurture vs Nature)

While I'm sure it is an inherent disease with some people, with the proliferation of people in the public eye seemingly acting out this kind of behavior, I'm wondering if something in how we are raising our kids (exposure to too much television, dopamine addiction via excessive gaming, poor socialization by leftist environment at schools, etc.) doesn't have some kind of effect on our kids and cause them to have stunted maturity and BPD-like symptoms that can develop into BPD as they grow.

Again, not a doctor of any kind, on TV or otherwise, so I honestly don't know. Is there a Shrink Pede in the house that can edumacate us on this?

BPD is caused by childhood emotional trauma. And trauma could be anything from an emotionally distant father to actual emotional abuse. Some people are far more susceptible to BPD while others aren't at all. The root issue of BPD is abandonment issues. When a person with BPD has a disagreement with someone close to them they see it as abandonment regardless of how minor the disagreement is. The BPD person will fly off into a rage of anger (like a child). Which pushes the other person away in effect accomplishing what the BPD person is most fearful of.

It is a really crazy and bizarre emotional disorder. And it is not only completely destructive for the person who has it, but often even more so for the family members and spouses because BPDs lash out in the most hateful ways they can think of. Nothing is off limits when they are angry at you.

Politicians on the left are the absolute most likely in my opinion. The traits that the left selects for are the traits of sociopaths. When they want someone "presidential", "classy", etc, what that selects for is someone who wears a mask at all times. Someone who fakes their personality 24/7. Normal human beings are bad at this. Sociopaths have absolutely no problem with it at all. They can wear a mask at all times. They enjoy faking their personality, because they get a psychological payoff from knowing they are fooling people.

CEOs are also more likely to be financially secure job creators and baby creators, too. More likely to have money to donate to worthy charities. More likely to have money to invest in American companies' future.

Without private corporations, without people who have the enormous balls, skill, knowledge, and willpower to go through what it takes to be an effective CEO, where would we be?

Not at the forefront of standard of living, prosperity, and technology, with no one else even close, that's for sure. Government would control the means of production. That's a road no one sane wants to go down.

Lots of small business, low multi million dollar companies have quality CEOs, but the multi-billion dollar ones are nearly all sociopaths who care nothing for their employees and only care about power and wealth.
