Think independently: if you’re going to be a leaker, and post leaks, why be cryptic about it, because if you feel like you’re already being anonymous, why not just be forthright? Especially when it comes to things like human trafficking and pedophiles? If you have “insider knowledge” on this, then let’s go! Children’s lives are at stake.

Is it to protect themselves? Doubt it, because leaking is leaking, cryptically or not. So then why do it? Simple: to keep people hooked. The game and decoding aspect “heightens” whatever the message, no matter how generic, and cleverly uses confirmation bias (“I decoded Qs message! I KNEW it!”) to keep people coming back for more.
