That's what I did, why I was kinda sure it was the one on the left. Any idea why no one seems to be talking about the one on the right? If 3 gorges goes, I'm guessing that goes too.
Yes, on the left. There are many structures downstream which would be destroyed. I can't imagine they would let the dam fail, though, as they could simply open the locks just to the north before that happens. Of course there would be the same hell unleashed downstream as would occur with a failure of the dam.
Many years ago I helped design several very large foundations under flood control structures as a contractor for the Corps of Engineers. Bad things can happen, and I recall one key structure in the lower Mississippi Valley which began to vibrate and hum loudly as floodwater passed under its foundation and through the maze of supporting piles underneath. That said, I tend to think any visibly-large-scale "deflections" are more likely an artifact of imaging from hundreds of miles away through miles of atmosphere.
It's the one on the left. Check out a pic from the ground then zoom in to confirm from satellite 👌🏻

The dam was built like shit, it's sitting on top of bedrock, not even anchored into it. It's already warping according to satellite pics.
