I know many many classical musicians. The blind audition process is there to help allow the BEST of the BEST get in. There’s even a carpet down so judges can’t hear high-heels and get biased against women.

A black friend won the 1st chair in one of the best orchestras around and it was a huge fucking deal. Won it bc he’s the best. Ain’t got shit to do w complexion.

Aren't Asians over represented in classical music as well? They'll probably go the Ivy League route and limit them as well.
In Australia they tried to fight sexism by taking the names off job applications and found that disparity actually increased so they stopped doing that

There should be a blind audition for just about everything.

Probably paranoia speaking but you might want to get rid of the parenthetical portion. Could figure it the identity or at least narrow it down by finding which of the best orchestras have only one black first chair.
