Mormons are the kindest people. They form families and lead good lives. I just wish they would recognize Mitt Romney as a snake who would turn their state into California in exchange for some speaking fees.

Yes, Trump isn’t a perfect model of human behavior. He likes the ladies. But he’s standing up for your way of life. More than can be said for Moneybags Mittens.

That has been my experience. Fairly naive about the world. But warm, generous and sincere people.

Same goes for many Christians in this forum.

Same goes for many Christians. But not all. I think the level of naïveté amont Mormons is on a different level. Most evangelicals and every Catholic has a real sense of sin. And a real sense that people are complex. They can be a bastard, and yet you can cheer for them, they can be mean, and yet you can elect them. Christians aren't as naive as the media constantly portrays them which is why they misunderstand them. Do evangelicals know what Trump is like? They must not.

They are the most politically conservative religion out there. Pew Research poll years back (2012 ish) had them at 69% registered Republican. Mittens duped them the same way he duped POTUS.

True. Trump knew mittens would win so he could only look petty and lose if he endorsed someone else in the primary. As terrible as mittens is, he's better than a Democrat if he votes even once with Republicans.

I am a Utah native and Mormons make great neighbors and most of them have emergency reserves and lots of guns and ammo. Our neighborhoods are well armed. Which means this is a polite society. Very little graffiti and very little crime.

I'd say that's more of a Utah/West coast Mormon thing. Latter-day Saints in other areas are more based.

They also demanded that Utah split the vote evenly in the LDS church for Democrat & Republican votes.

My dad recalls his father talking about it when it became a state during my grandfather's younger years.

I am amazed that Utah members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (aka Mormons) so willingly go along with big government stuff that Romney pushes, especially when they all grew up learning in their religious seminary classes (ie the LDS church believes) that God only supports the laws that promote individual liberty & freedom.

I keep hoping that many more will start to think like Senator Lee regarding constitutional principles & compel the state to rescind the BS popular vote laws that gave the very best constitutional candidates we could get.

I read that as the rep didn't endorse polygamy & suggested it was misread when family (in laws) take care of widowed wives & the children of the dead brother.

I lived in Utah for 15 years. I agree Mormons are very kind and generous people. Unfortunately they are very subject to the direction of the church leadership, which doesn't always have the best policies in my opinion.

I don't wanna say the members are sheep, because they follow the direction of the religion they believe in, but at the same time even if you believe in the Mormon church 100%, you have to recognize it's possible for religions to be co-opted and distorted, especially if your own very religion was founded on that specific idea, which the Mormon church was.

I just wish they had more freedom of thought in the church. You see it in other religions all the time, even those with a defined human figurehead like the Catholic church.

Mormons are a "religion" founded by a fraudulent conman that had to flee to the unsettled west after being RUN OUT of other communities for being such an unbearable dipshit. He was the Ms Cleo of his day "divining" things with sticks and reading stuff inside hats and most certainly not the man God chose to create a new updated Christianity with indian Jesus and other nonsense. He was a liar and the whole of the Mormon faith is a corrupted abomination detestable to real Christians. No need to opologize for offending any of that trash.

All I see here is anger and misunderstandings, and even some lies. There is no reason to be so hateful here. You can twist nearly every religion into some nut job conspiracy with lunatic followers if you try hard enough, but does that mean we should be doing it here?

We tend to base our opinions on the truth here friend. Mormonism is a perversion of Christianity that many of us find distasteful.

I grew up Mormon. Fuck Mormons and their church.

I know all about him being a conman lol, I am saying from their perspective, they don't see that and see it as the one true church. Of course they are blind to the lies of Joseph Smith, many are also incapable of critically thinking beyond that, even if one assumes the church is "true".

Like I am saying in their own religion they think its a restoration, because they believe other religions got corrupted, but think its impossible to happen to their own, and just do what the leaders tell them.

It's Koolaid all the way down, even if they are nice.

CALLA ME NOW FO YAH FREE REEDIN!

For real though, Mormons have a bit of a pedo problem...it's true, sorry. I'm sometimes convinced the CIA is involved with Mormons to run underground pedo rings in UT. No malice intended, any group can be filled with pedos, but the history of them liking very young girls is pretty disturbing, IMO. Throw in a heavy dose of shame-based sexuality/guilt and you generally have a scenario for lots of secrets in their networks.

especially if your own very religion was founded on that specific idea

It's like dating someone who cheated on their partner to be with you. Then being surprised when they cheat on you.

Unfortunately that went away in the later 70-80 due to misunderstandings of members with talks given at colleges. It is the same reason so many will not even consider viewing an R rated movie.

It seems once the former secretary of Agriculture, Ezra T. Benson, was the leader of that church & then died, the constant onslaught of constitutional principles were spoken of far less. Some believe it was due to pressure from government agencies threatening 501c3 status removal, or possibly threatening physical harm. I still haven't seen concrete evidence of this, but Mittens & that bald turkey that ran here in Utah give me reason to believe it is possible.

Mormons, overall, are pretty based. I dont know any conservative mormon (being one myself) who likes Romney, at least not since he's shown his true colors. Even mormons living in very blue states tend to learn conservative, though obviously there are more libs in these situations.

Utah and Romney is like Minnesomalia and Omar. The policies of the person is irrelevant, only the color of their skin and religious affiliation.
