I get that aspect. But if this is a military aircraft incursion, this display already makes them look incredibly weak. Blatantly flying military aircraft over a sovereign country (assumed without permission), is particularly brazen for escalation. They get bent out of shape when we run warships through their contested south China sea area.
My assessment, is this is either nothing oooooorrrr, we are looking to enter a world war to stave off a civil war here? China does piss Russia and India (among other countries) off something fierce, a global conflict isn't something far fetched.
As for nuclear payload drones, probably not the safest or even practical delivery system. Nukes have a very purposeful "hand on the button" delivery. Not only that we have far better methods for surgical strikes to hamfisted BOHICA sledgehammer delivery. I just don't see it on the mosaic warfare front.

There's other possibilities. I'm guessing here, but this might be The Donald telling China "I know you're weak; I know you can't actually do anything about this". Forcing China to decide whether to keep being a dick and risk getting humiliated again, or tone down their bullshit in order to save face.
We can only guess at the motive for that drone flying in there, but I do know one thing: this was NOT "random". :) It may LOOK random, but somebody flew that thing in there for a reason and has an agenda.
