It's not the violent riots but the citizens open carrying that caused the murder rate to go up 124% ... Interesting theory ... NOT!

Criminals don't need a CCW permit, and unless they're showing off they don't open carry. If I was about to do something illegal, the last thing I'd want to do is let everyone know I have a weapon.

For bigger shootouts, they don't even need to carry, just a friend with all their gear in the backseat of a nondescript car.

Stephanie Ruhle noted that shootings in Atlanta are up 124% and asked Bottoms, “What is going on?”

Bottoms explained that the shooting violence is “happening across the country” and is a combination of a “lack of access to healthcare,” unemployment, coronavirus and injustices seen across the country. She then added that Georgia is an “open carry state,” which allows people to “walk down the streets with assault weapons” without being stopped for probable cause.

”What’s happening in Atlanta is what’s happening across the country. There is a combination of things,” Bottoms replied. “There are … these systemic issues, including lack of access to healthcare, including people being unemployed, people are dying of COVID-19. We witness the injustices that have happened in front of our eyes, and it’s boiling over into our streets. It’s happening in Atlanta. It’s happening across the country.”

”The irony of it is that our overall crime rate is down by 18%. But in Georgia, an open carry state, people are allowed to walk down the streets with assault weapons and we don’t have probable cause to stop them,” she continued. “You don’t get to pick and choose which demographic you get to stop and question as to why they are walking in our streets with open weapons. It is an issue in Atlanta. It’s an issue in other cities across this nation, and it is one that we take very seriously. But this notion that somehow the governor is helping us with law and order is false. He has military tanks in front of state buildings. … This is a play out of the Nixon playbook: distract, talk about law and order when the reality is that people are dying of COVID-19, and this president and this governor have failed us.”

”This president and this governor have failed us.”

Yeah, because the president is responsible for the crime rate in Atlanta? What horse shit! I like how she through in "You don’t get to pick and choose which demographic you get to stop and question as to why they are walking in our streets with open weapons". I guarantee you it isn't the traditional open carry enthusiast that are causing the shooting rate to go up 124%. Additionally, when one is walking around with a mob that is blocking traffic, burning shit down, assaulting people and screaming about murdering cops, it gives an officer probable cause to believe thay may commit a crime with said weapon.

But hey, keep pretending this is about race and not about anarchy.

Their audience thinks like children. They don't see cause and effect. They do not accept reality. They are so used to being lied to that they prefer the lie that does not cause them to question their party to the truth. And the really fucked up part about all of it - is that they say the same thing about anyone that does not agree with them.

The reality is - Atlanta is allowing this madness. Atlanta is intentionally shutting down businesses that want to be open instead of letting people just take their chances with the virus. Atlanta is allowing massive protests all without mask requirements or social distancing - featuring open air drug trade, open air prostitution, murder, beatings, arson, mayhem, theft --- all while stopping people from opening their business because of a virus 99.9 % of people survive.

I know this madness is just about power and I am preaching to the choir - but this madness is just something that boggles my mind. How can so many people be so disconnected from reality?

If they defund the police who the fuck is going to stop them? All of this is insanity. None of it is rational at all. I don't understand what they are trying to appeal to with any of this. It seems like an insanity has taken hold that does not seem connected in any way to actual events on the streets.

Why are people choosing to support this?

I'd like to know which specific shooting - what is the cop's name who saw that specific shooter, who wanted to stop them, but couldn't because of open carry - and thus that shooter who would have been stopped by a specific cop wasn't stopped, and went on to kill someone.

bullshit. None of the shooters would have been stopped. murderers aren't going around open carrying just to flaunt it. that makes no sense. "hey look at me i'm about to kill somebody and you can't stop me because i'm allowed to open carry" - that's not what's happening.
