I stand with the blue. honestly. BUT.. this ones a example of how i wish it played differently. I wish we could see training on taking a target down without killing shots. example would be knee capping them. foot shooting ect. he did not have a gun but a knife. he was still at range. so he could not kill anyone yet. You have allot of rounds in the magazine. Surely a few rounds into his legs/knees/feet as he approched would be better for everyone then Kill shots to the chest or head.

Now.. with this said.. i confess that in the heat of anger i myself would be temped to do a kill shot. But I am not angry here. I dont know him or why he would be so stupid as he was. I just wish we had better ways to drop targets without killing.

If you're shooting a gun it's because you need to shoot, and shooting anywhere other than torso massively increases chances of missing. You're expecting too much of cops. Watch the Rayshard brooks thing to see how reliable tazers are. You can't afford to do that when someone is 3s away with a knife, coming towards you.

21 feet.

If he gets within that range, the officer is dead.

That's 21 feet from the draw. Not aiming down the sights.

Irrelevant. In a life or death situation panicked shooting will occur. You can miss the charging target even at point blank range. Inside of 30 feet I would consider a knife wielding person as a threat to my life even if I was already drawn down on them.

You never point a firearm at something you don't intend to destroy. Ever. Also, it's very difficult to hit a moving target, no matter how well trained you are, so you always aim for center mass. But the bigger issue is that US is a litigious society, shooting someone in the kneecap or foot (?) is going to 'permanently disable' them, even if they heal just fine, they'll sue the city, get you fired, and suck off the taxpayers the rest of their lives. And not even go to jail!

She did exactly the right thing. This guy knew what he was doing, he could have killed others driving in that state, including his exploited kid. Funny how quickly a lawyer jumped on this. The news just breaks & a 14 year old girl somehow managed to think of suing AND found a lawyer? Please.

looks more like the shots were to his upper abdomen, not his chest.

A shot to the legs or feet would be likely to miss and ricochet unpredictably, striking the bystanders behind him.

The legs get a ton of blood flow, so a leg shot can still be lethal.

Personally, I would rather get shot in the chest than lose a kneecap, both are survivable, but a knee shot will maim you much worse.
