I work on the medical side. Well, there have been dozens of women trying to smuggle drugs into prison during visitation. They get federal charges and will be going away for a long time. There was a lady who had a screwdriver.
As far non-smuggling incidents, just the usual fights, suicide attempts and drug overdoses when they bring new people into booking, however there was an overdose on the inside, one of the rich natives has hundreds of thousands if not more saved up in government money which is untouchable from fines, restitution, or law suits.
She has enough money to bribe or have drugs and even needles smuggled in somehow and overdosed on heroin, only a little bit, everyone else thought she was dead but she had a pulse and was breathing shitty, non-responsive, diaphoretic. She woke up after two doses of narcan.
In prison however, when I worked there, a guy didn't stop fighting cause his gang told him they would kill him if he did. So since he didn't stop, on of the sharpshooter women up top blew his leg off with a .308. Now he is a thug life amputee, and probably the resident professional d!ck-sucker for his gang, and has another 10-20 years to serve on top of his original charges, and he was only 19 or 20 when he lost his leg...
i think that's so cool and funny how our prisons actually create gang members by throwing rookie criminals into the deep end where they either have to suck dick or take it in the ass or kill people for a gang. so cool. i love how they come back out even more hardened because of these shitty systems. i mean how many gangs out there wouldn't even exist without prison? seems like plenty of the white power ones started as a prison thing. now they're a real problem 'on the outside'. i don't care whether it's 'inhumane' or what but it seems to me there should be some way to minimize contact between these fucks so people don't get raped or forced into a gang.
Legalize drugs and their funding and incentives take a real hit, though you'll still need to police territory to handle things like human trafficking, though that takes a hit too if you legalize prostitution.
I like the idea of a legal framework for drugs. We can put high taxes on them just enough to undercut the illegal drug trade (it's not perfect as there are even operations for smuggling cigarettes to avoid taxes) and spend that money on services to help people quit.
As long as an individual is not violating someone else's rights, they can do whatever drugs they want. If someone commits a crime while on drugs, come down on them like a ton of bricks.

Gangs only start to defend drug territory
