Thug life and absent parents is the biggest problem. Thug life will ruin anyone of any color - but black youth pick thug life more than any other race. Its cool and expected in their community. Get the drugs get the money get the girls.
People always talk about the missing dads. But I have seen first hand the black mom who is there, but more focused on getting high, more focused on scoring some coke.
We've been told so many times that only if there was more black people on tv, only if there were more black CEOs, only if there were more positive black role models.
First off - this ignores that many black people who have "made it" in America.
Secondly - for DECADES there have been positive black role models in the lime light. But we're told all the time we need more, that THIS is the silver bullet.
- I know a black guy who is smarter than me, harder worker than me, and physically stronger than me. He could of had it all. But now he is a loser in a garage apartment because his whole life he has been more interested in being a thug, doing drugs, and playing video games.
What black Americans need is not more "help" from white people or more black role models. I don't act right because of someone on tv - I act right because I had a dad who acted right.
Speaking of privilege. With responsibility comes privilege.
As long as it works, they are going to keep doing it.
