We have the greatest Sprintcars don't we folks!

Sprint car racing is pretty sick, loud ground rumbling noise, dirt clods flying into your beer... it's a patriot's sport

I was a lifelong NASCAR guy but I've been getting more into midgets (heh, there's a joke in there somewhere) and sprint cars lately. Not going to lie, I'm never going to forget watching the TBARA asphalt sprints run at the then-freshly-repaved New Smyrna Speedway, and the sheer speed and chaos quite literally broke my fucking brain. It was like watching a VCR race on fast forward. I thought someone might have spiked my food with cocaine or something.

Of course, the late, great Dave Steele won that race, so I'm glad to have witnessed it. Such a shame that he passed away. That crash looked so survivable too.

Dirt is where its at my brother. Always action on the track. I have the privilege of living very close to the greatest race track, dirt or paved, ever built on Gods green earth, Eldora.

AJ Foyt said the greatest racing ever was on short dirt tracks, and who is going to argue racing with AJ Foyt? Not me, that is for sure. Dirt is where it's at for sure, my brother!

But damn that Virginia International Raceway sure is nice...

All of the great ones started on dirt. All of them.

Agreed, here in western Ohio Eldora is the best track to have in one's back yard.

Dirt Track is WAY more entertaining - especially when mud and shit flies in your face through chain link. Honestly, if you haven't been, GO> you won't regret it. A VERY visceral experience, like smash-up derbies.

MrsSilenceDogood 15 points ago +15 / -0

The one place I will wear a dust mask. And not to prevent kung flu, because 4 hours of dirt and dust in my face tastes like shit :)

6
LugNuts 6 points ago +6 / -0

yup, same with smash-up, if you don't bring a mask, you'll be coughing all night.

HillarysStrapOn 4 points ago +4 / -0

Real men and women race on dirt. Eldora = Legend

2
LugNuts 2 points ago +2 / -0

YES.

3
lostremote- 3 points ago +3 / -0

the drivers getting pissed off and beating the shit out of each other is fun to. I watched a guy take a pit stop, the guy he spun out a few laps before runs right into the side of him. It was a huge brawl.

2
LugNuts 2 points ago +2 / -0

yup. if their ain' no fist-fight, you didn' get your money's worth. Same with hockey.

Sprint car!

FergieJR 10 points ago +10 / -0

You never been to a sprint car race? It's a 950hp go cart with massive wings to keep it from flying off the track....it's fucking amazing

DirtVision ($40/mo) and FloRacing ($150/yr) are worth every penny.

Sprints, World of Outlaws, Late Models, Modified shows nearly every night.

That 20 car is sharp, no libs at the dirt track to piss off.

11
DudeThatCame2Sarnath 11 points ago +11 / -0

Open-wheel modified on dirt is crazy! I don't know how those drivers can WALK because their balls must be THIS damn big! /cups hands to illustrate very large size, approximately that of a standard grapefruit

YoungRacer88 10 points ago +11 / -1

Can confirm that sprint cars, are indeed, awesome.

Grew up with dads in the garage :)

DeuteronomyTwentyone 4 points ago +4 / -0

Nice! 👍 My grandfather and my dad both were sprint car drivers. Grew up watching my dad race every weekend! It was so awesome.

I will have to keep an eye out and see if this car makes it to our local track (I think it is same cars that race this track, yes) Tony Stewart is going to be racing.

When you have races like this, what's not to love? I legit didn't know who was going to win. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLLJGPeJHDc

Speaking of NASCAR, Kyle Larson, the driver who got cancelled from NASCAR because of dropping the n-bomb on a broadcasted iRacing event, is having a dirt season that I haven't seen in a long time. It's really something special.

Here's his results since May 30th: 2, 2, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 6, 1, 4, 1, 1, 1, 6, 1, 4, 1, 6, 1, 1, 1 (credit: Jacob Seelman)

And because Jacob's tweet was prior to the race tonight at Port Royal Speedway, we can add another 1 to that, because Kyle won again tonight.

That was fucking intense - holy shit I love sprint cars

MMmm. Equal length tube headers.

3
FiatLux 3 points ago +3 / -0

This shit is way more fun to watch too

magnokor 3 points ago +3 / -0

Went there a long time ago.

Had a hot dog.

The Supermodified went around, put dirt in the hot dog.

Was sad.

2
RyanT282 2 points ago +2 / -0

This makes me sad just reading about it. RIP hot dog. 😔

2
Sixty2ndAssassin 2 points ago +2 / -0

Who is the patriot that drives that car? Tremendous.

I hope that dude won all of his races!

2
Muttsbitetoo 2 points ago +2 / -0

Original drifting.

2
BunnyPicnic 2 points ago +2 / -0

These little fuckers are amazing to watch. If you like loud noises, dirt flying in your face, the smell of racing fuel, and a couple good crashes, go watch these at a dirt track near you. You don't have to like racing to have a good time.

They’ve been screwing with the Carolina Speedway for half the pandemic. Ever since they announced they were hosting a “protest for racial justice” so they could reopen.

sick ride!

1
randomuser567 1 point ago +1 / -0

What is this vehicle? What is the purpose of the things on the hood and roof?

1
PinochetIsMyHero 1 point ago +1 / -0

They keep rain and dirt off the driver.

Edit: also, the front thing acts as a hippie deflector when having to plow through rioters on the way to one's job.

TaterNubbz [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

Those are wings, or spoilers, to direct airflow to achieve better downforce

1
PhilipeNegro 1 point ago +1 / -0

To keep the car planted, even in the curves
