Today's news is that bacteria infections may be going up... they can be caused by mask wearing. :(

11
Aquamine-Amarine 11 points ago +12 / -1

Of course. Because you have all the toxins you're exhaling hanging out on the mask... shoved up against your face and you're reinhaling that shit. It weakens your immune system.

What kind of stuff do you breathe so you exhale toxins?

The only reason for bacteria infections to be a thing is because the inside of the mask is dark, warm and humid. If you wash or replace your mask regularly, you won't be getting any bacteria infections.

Some people are using the same mask since the beginning of this entire shabang, though, and some of those look like they can give you the plague.

What kind of stuff do you breathe so you exhale toxins?

O₂ + C₆H₁₂0₆ -> CO₂ + H₂O is the basis of aerobic respiration. CO₂ is toxic. So air, would be your answer.

But Aqua there probably didn't mean toxins in that sense. Every breath you take has bacteria and viruses in it, because they naturally float in the air everywhere all the time. Most of the time they go into your mouth and nose, and either die to mucus or saliva or they get breathed back out and go away again. The ones that die to mucus or saliva enhance your immune system when you swallow them. This is good and normal, this is your body's natural vaccine-making plan. The only reason we have man-made vaccines is to provide us with already dead disease particles that would kill us if we tried doing that with them when they were alive.

The germs you breathe out are those better at surviving your saliva and mucus, but worse at getting into your body. Except now with a mask that's supposed to stop them, every exhale pins them to the inside of your mask, waiting for your next inhale to give them second and third chances at infecting you. And now with a mask, you're being exposed to less of the first kind, which you can kill, because the mask reduces your airflow.

The China Flu virus is quite happy to be coughed onto your skin, picked up from a surface, or float through the air into your eyes. Wearing a mask does not protect you from catching the flu. Wearing a mask protects you from spreading the flu if you already have it.

So if you were serious about using a mask for protection, what you as a health agency would do is first make a test that can tell the difference between China Flu and regular flu. Which they don't have yet, because that wouldn't advance their narrative. Then when someone shows up with symptoms of China Flu, you would test them to make sure they have China Flu and not normal flu. If they do, you hand them a mask and send them back to work. They wear the mask until they're recovered, and the mask stops them from infecting new people. Then you pull in everyone they exposed themselves to over the last two weeks when they weren't wearing their mask. China Flu has a two week asymptomatic period, so these people might have it without showing symptoms yet. Give them masks just in case, send them back to work too, and wait for two weeks since they were last exposed to the infected person. Then test them too, and the ones who don't have it can stop wearing the mask. The ones who do, you keep having them wear the mask, and go back even further to everyone they exposed in whatever part of their last two weeks was before you gave them the mask. Eventually this runs back to the root of the exposure, and cuts the chain at both ends. You can't do this if your test can't tell China Flu from normal flu, because you'll be chasing the wrong chains and missing the right ones.

The only thing wearing a mask does for others if you aren't sick, is make you a douche contributing to the mask shortage in hospitals. The only thing wearing a mask does for you, if you're healthy, is weaken your immune system by changing your respiratory patterns. The only thing masks do for you if you're a Globalist or Communist, is get people used to unreasonable demands and subjugation from government authorities. The only thing masks do for you if you're a Democrat, is crash America's economy so you can try to pin the blame on Trump.

This is a good answer, though I wouldn't call CO₂ toxic. CO is, but CO₂ is no big deal. Also, since we're talking about gases, a mask isn't going to stop them from going either way.

The worst thing about wearing masks is that it breaks people into camps of distrust: This guy is wearing a mask, and he just sneezed! he must be sick! Or, This guy isn't wearing a mask, he's gonna kill us all!

The most sinister thing of all, when combined with the fact that those in power don't wear masks, and don't give a damn about restrictions (like that scientist in the UK that went to see his mistress, and went to a private beach when the country was locked down) is that this bullshit herds people into being forced to just go to work and home and nowhere else. Almost makes you think that those in power just want the commoners to stay in their holes and not get into their sight. This also makes it difficult to contact people in real life, which may herd people into watching "approved programming on the fair and balanced news" on TV and the internet where the propaganda would be most effective.

Now with this having been said, if wearing a mask + eye protection (like sunglasses), when using the public transportation, is going to have at least 10 or 20% protection, I think it's better than nothing, and better than the potential costs of hospitalization, and medicine for whatever organ gets permanent damage after the virus.

I have some deaf friends. Their ability to communicate and perform regular daily interactions with people requires lip reading. If they were to go into stores wearing a mask, they couldn't hear (by which I mean see) each other or anyone talking. The world has become an alien and terrifying place for them, filled with silent ghosts who sometimes come after them for reasons they can't understand or ask about anymore.

The government must not have this power over people. I don't care how many die to an entirely unremarkable new member of the array of seasonal flues. A government with this power will, no already has, killed many more through chilling effects and economic losses.

This is true and before covid EVERYONE KNEW that you need to change the mask frequently/ every time you touch it because of bacteria.

There’s no increased spread. There’s increased testing. And falsified test results.

AND masks are useless

9
FergieJR 9 points ago +9 / -0

But seriously if you were to do shopping you would have a higher risk with a mask than without because of how often you touch and adjust your mask / face while wearing it.

Otherwise I agree 100% with your entire statement

1
Dialectic 1 point ago +1 / -0

Higher risk for viral/bacterial infection in general yes.

1
LirukDatan 1 point ago +1 / -0

Masks are useless because the vast majority either doesn't want to wear them, don't wear them properly, fiddle with them all the time, keeping their hands in their faces, and don't replace surgical or N95 disposable masks (or wash cloth masks).

People wearing a rag on their face (instead of the recommended 3 layers of cloth) will say they've been wearing a mask, but their mask is useless, and is just for show.

Some people will wear masks properly, and remove it when they're talking with other people, or when they're coughing, or when they want to fix their dentures or whatever.

If you want masks to be effective, you need to use them properly, keep your hands away from your face, wash hands with soap before touching your face and mouth, and maintain distance from other people.

The falsified test results is a possibility, though, as well as false positives in the tests themselves.

1
Dialectic 1 point ago +1 / -0

Like I said, masks are useless. Lol :D

1
LirukDatan 1 point ago +1 / -0

Contextually, though. I was merely explaining when the masks are useless. They can, however, be effective, when used properly.

I'm sure the real story is that the numbers are being fudged to make it appear that the number of positive cases are going up

8
lerm4comptroller 8 points ago +8 / -0

Yes, but if the positive cases aren't on the rise then it's not a world-ending pandemic that requires everyone to wear a mask.

Oh the tangled webs we weave...

The numbers are absolutely being exagerated, we've seen countless posts showing evidence of this. The anti-mask crowd confuses me a bit, it seems like 'our side' is just being reactionary in response to the authorative mandatory mask rules and ignoring the fact that countries that distributed masks early on did much better than elsewhere, but the numbers are being fudged and it's useless trying to take any of the statistics at face value other than maybe the hospital admissions and deaths.

15
JeremiahKassin 15 points ago +15 / -0

As part of the anti-mask crowd, allow me to explain: yes, masks may slow the spread. However, we've never reacted with mask mandates to any viral or bacterial pathogen in my lifetime. Not in my parents' lifetimes. Not even in my grandparents'. Not two years ago when we had a worldwide tuberculosis outbreak that killed 1.5 million. Not during the H1N1 pandemic. Not with Zika. Not with Ebola.

That means something is categorically different about this outbreak. Since TB and H1N1 killed and infected far more people than Covid, it can't be the rate of infection. Since Zika had a more catastrophic effect on survivors, it can't be that. And no other illness compares to Ebola's kill rate.

So, what is different about this bug that separates it from all other bugs? Maybe the fact that it's engineered, but if it's not the most infectious, most deadly, or most harmful long-term, why should that matter? If there's nothing exceptional about this outbreak, why the exceptional measures?

We cannot allow every new virus to be an excuse to upend our lives. Disease is a part of this world, and the world has to keep turning. A lot more people were hurt by the government's actions in this pandemic than by the pandemic itself. There's only one reason why the government would choose this moment in time to change the established pattern: to manufacture a crisis. Every person you see wearing a mask is another argument convincing you there really is a crisis where none exists.

There is also solid evidence that wearing a mask can cause coronavirus-like symptoms. Low oxygen can cause headaches, depression, light-headedness and dizzyness. Mildew on a cloth mask, almost unavoidable when they're worn continuously, can cause sore throats and runny noses. Cloth masks also increase the likeliness of bacterial infection, which, again, can appear to be coronavirus.

Lastly, and most importantly: the government is not responsible for my health. I am. The government is responsible for preserving my freedoms, as laid out in the constitution and our other founding documents. When we surrender responsibility for our safety to the government, our freedom goes with it. That goes against every principle our ancestors fought and died for. If we roll over and let it happen their sacrifices were in vain, and our children will suffer the consequences with poverty, slavery and pain.

MustBeTrump 8 points ago +8 / -0

Incredible response and I hope more people see it. As long as we agree that fresh, constantly replaced high quality masks have some effect on reducing the spread of this and similar viruses then I'm pretty sure I agree with everything you're saying.

There's clearly something up with all of this, I happened to be following the covid situation way back in January and admittedly fell for the hype and believed the death rate was super high and that society as we knew it was going to collapse, I grew increasingly frustrated that the media wasn't covering it and I was honestly furious when the media started saying we don't need to wear masks and that they're ineffective, it blew my mind how dumb they thought we were.

Then it became increasingly obvious that although seemingly quite contagious and packing a punch, covid wasn't this super virus that they had described and turned out to be just as bad or not even as bad as some of the common viruses that we already deal with.

Now that they're demanding we wear masks I realised that I've lost so much trust in the media that I too find myself naturally wanting to rebel, which is why I questioned other peoples motives to be 'anti-mask'.

What will be really interesting is in a year or so when the yearly covid numbers are released, what will the yearly flu numbers show? Because I suspect there'll be a mismatch when you put those numbers beside each other, especially compared to last years data.

Yep. It has to run its course. It won’t go away until we reach herd immunity. However, if the reports of antibodies only lasting a few months are true, then a vaccine won’t work regardless. Either way, it’s time to get back to normal life without masks

The number of positive cases are going up because the number of tests has gone up astronomically!!

CA is testing more than 2x as much now at they were ~3 weeks ago when they started mandating masks 400k tests per day back in June vs 800k+ per day now.

More tests = more known cases, by definition.

That doesn't mean there actually are more cases, just that more cases are now "known" ...

... Meanwhile daily deaths are way down & hospital capacity is not even close to overrun.

If anything we should be celebrating these high daily new cases... Because without a parallel rise in deaths or hospitalizations, they are proving definitively that this virus is less deadly than a bad flu.

That's not to mention false-positive test results or other book cooking on the testing side.

Remember guys, just 4-6 more weeks of mask wearing and we'll finally have this under control, after the past 4-6 weeks of mask wearing, which followed the other previous 4-6 weeks of mask wearing.

dldeuce 7 points ago +7 / -0

Same thing in Texas. Here's the same graph for Harris county ie Houston. The dictator Hidalgo's order went in effect 6/22. It's been three weeks now. https://publichealth.harriscountytx.gov/Resources/2019-Novel-Coronavirus

Cyer6 3 points ago +3 / -0

Texas is just infuriating. Abbott completely folded and he's still digging his heels in over masks but doesn't seem to be asking any questions about what's REALLY going on here. I was hoping the courts would start getting more involved by now. I also haven't heard anything about lockdowns coming back even thought Abbott mentioned it a few weeks ago when he was having a temper tantrum about LEO's not enforcing it. Maybe that's because they'd have to admit this mask BS was never rooted in any solid science and data because it's not making a difference.

https://ajph.aphapublications.org/doi/pdf/10.2105/AJPH.10.1.34 A study from 1920 showed the same thing.

It's just the same shit over again.

In 5 more years, it'll be the Century Anniversary of Best Book, and the same shit that was happening then, in it, will still be happening.

Fugg, and that was studying the effects of masks on BACTERIA! Viruses are way smaller!

Droplet born virus follows similar patterns, so the test is valid.

Oh, Masks work alright. They work at making people terrified and paranoid. They work at allowing the state governments to shut down and control their citizens.

These politicians, the media, they all know masks are not effective at preventing Covid, but that's not why they push them. They want people to be terrified so they can be controlled.

LostViking1985 4 points ago +4 / -0

Can someone PLEASE overlay daily tests on the daily cases data?

1
savaged54 1 point ago +1 / -0

It's not the best, but Johns Hopkins has this here. Ca State Tests

But I'd venture to guess it would be hard to find a good source since that would imply CA is being honest about their data...just saying.

2
cchris_39 2 points ago +2 / -0

Love to see an overlay of mask vs nonmask areas.

Guaranteed it will be impossible to tell them apart.

2
T_WIN_2020 2 points ago +2 / -0

That's the day when they changed the how data is manipulated, I mean reported.

1
meatthesoyboi 1 point ago +2 / -1

This is not great proof masks don't work. We can't use daily cases and then complain about how they are heavily skewed by increased testing and over reporting.

Masks may or may not work, but this isn't useful to determine that. It's likely that they "work" but not so significantly that they should be mandatory and not so significantly that you could tell without accounting for a whole host of confounding variables.
