Stealing people’s money, that seems completely legal...

I was just talking with some friends about this tonight. They had heard that this is being put forth as "there is a coin shortage"; which is about as real as smurfs.

I'd be willing to wager that those "donations" find their way to ActBlue... and then on to the DNC.

That’s theft

Dystopian cashless society.

Watch out for the corporations, not for "capitalism", but because they work with socialist/globalist policies.

Also need to black out the feedback ID.

Good solution. That or use the law. Or just pay with card

8
HuggableBear 8 points ago +8 / -0

Yeah, they don't get to charge me for using cash. They can just eat that 3% credit card fee instead. Doesn't hurt me at all

7
Notme 7 points ago +7 / -0

Make a complaint to the department of weights and measures they can be fined for each occurrence and I’m sure your city needs cash.

They can just have it added to their Kroger reward card.

‘Kroger is asking customers paying with cash to use exact change. Alternatively, patrons may donate what they are owed in coins to its Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation, an initiative aimed at eliminating hunger in the U.S.

Kroger customers can also chose to have their change loaded onto a customer loyalty card and be automatically applied to their next purchase.’

Demand your money back.

Also, stop shopping at antigun Kroger. https://bigleaguepolitics.com/kroger-hops-on-the-anti-gun-bandwagon-bans-open-carry/

TheThreeSeashells 4 points ago +4 / -0

I thought the anti-gun policy was hilarious. They did this in the wake of the Texas Walmart thing. They wanted to ban open carry and allow concealed carry. They would prefer people who have hidden guns, which is the more likely route taken by someone intending to do something harm, over people who are saying, "Hi, I have a gun. I'm the one that will likely protect you should someone come in intending to do harm."

The Left are morons.

Everyone who refuses legal tender has to be arrested.

Have found this happening for quite a few years now.

Some of them came up with "environmental reasons." They ban cash, to supposedly "save the world". Too stupid to understand that all the mining that goes into making their cash register and scanner and the cables and then how it has to be connected to the electrical grid and possibly satellites, which of course need to get into orbit.

Does this Mr. Kroger have a policy where the store will welcome back the customers later when their "change shortage" is over?

They did this on Impractical Jokers. Took the money for the item, refused to give the customer change, then ran away as a bunch of people became irate and wanted the change after buying peanuts and water.

Anyone that thinks money is bad for the environment but for masks should just slapped upside the head.

Am I the only one excited about this because I have five pounds of change in the car?

That's when you leave the milk and get your $3 back.

Another globohomo plan. Get rid of the coins because they have presidents heads and represent The United States and capitalism.

3
TotesNotKaren 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yeah, though at least the mint is taking action and not letting it fester.

‘Mint spokesman Michael White said the agency is already on track to produce 1.65 billion coins per month for the remainder of 2020, amounting to a production level of 19.8 billion circulating coins. It's a boost from 2019, when 12.4 billion circulating coins were produced.’ (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/pandemic-leads-national-coin-shortage-federal-reserve-task-force-created-n1233907)

More like get rid of paper/coin currency because it's how many people avoid taxes.

5
CoreyAnder 5 points ago +5 / -0

Isn’t milk usually free from taxes, yet rounding up the 59 cents caused an additional 2 cents to be collected? This is a scam.

2
TriathlonTodd3 2 points ago +2 / -0

If food is taxed depends on the state. And it is not all or none either. Some states tax certain types of food but not others.

4
Threebabies 4 points ago +4 / -0

Obligatory - Taxation is theft. This is just a laziness tax.

3
TheThreeSeashells 3 points ago +3 / -0

WTF does a virus have to do with a coin shortage? Are these morons swallowing coins now to "protect themselves?"

3
Suture_Self 3 points ago +3 / -0

Man! What a wacky coincidence! Soon there will be a vaccine and you'll have to take a microchip to prove you've received it. After that, you won't be able to buy or sell anything without this "mark". Ask me how I know? Lol

2
KiltedTailor 2 points ago +3 / -1

Its even happening way up in Maine- the local owned grocery store rounds up the total. The extra DOES go to the local fire department

2
Tymbo 2 points ago +2 / -0

It’s linked to your shopper’s card, so you will get credited on your next shopping trip.

I've seen these signs (and also have been meaning to go cash in on my coin schooner)

They wouldn't let you pay in exact change if you had the change?

2
TotesNotKaren 2 points ago +2 / -0

They are supposedly taking exact change, as well as you can give it as a donation, or they put it on your member loyalty card for a rebate the next trip.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/kroger-coin-shortage-no-change/

1
TotesNotKaren 1 point ago +1 / -0

Kroger should be honoring exact change as per their store policy. They also are rounding up and putting the change on the store rewards card as a rebate to be used the next purchase.

There's a coin shortage. They're giving you the difference on a store card.

10
TakingCoatsWIN 10 points ago +10 / -0

There's no coin shortage, that's an excuse.

TotesNotKaren 1 point ago +1 / -0

I am wary, but the treasury is going to be printing a ton of coins through the end of the year regardless.

‘Mint spokesman Michael White said the agency is already on track to produce 1.65 billion coins per month for the remainder of 2020, amounting to a production level of 19.8 billion circulating coins.
