That's the plan. I'm pretty fast with my carry pistols but I'm planning on saving up some cash and finding some decent rifle training. After all, it's not the car, it's the driver.

Doing stuff like that is good. That said, Professional instruction from a competent instructor is invaluable. I grew up with guns and did some competition and I figured I'd take and 8 hour pistol 1 class just to see What it was all about. I was blown away. There are so many little nuisances that you won't learn on your own. It's an investment in yourself and your family. Fighting w a gun is a martial art. No one becomes a BJJ pro without training. If you never train with someone better than you you won't excel. If you don't have a trainer to point out your flaws you won't excel. You may do good without it but there's a limit to what you can do on your own grappling with buddies. Same w guns.

There is a whole training world with guys that have been there and done that. You will likely need to travel a few hours or more. It will cost as much as a decent rifle or more. You'll need a case of Ammo and hotel. It's worth it.
