It's to get around the NFA. A Short Barrel Shotgun is a $200 tax stamp and an ATF wait time of anywhere from 3 months to over a year (my last SBR paperwork went though in about 5 months, though this was last year), you're also on the ATFs radar. With it being a "smooth bore" greater than an overall length of 26" and not having a buttstock, this allows it to fall into the "Firearm" definition under the ATF. You see the SB tactical braces or "tail hooks" on here a lot. Those are NOT buttstocks and are designed to attach to your forearm to stabilize your "pistol". When you see a super short AR-15 picture with a barrel shorter than 16" and one of these braces, those are all classified as "Pistols" so no need for a tax stamp. Having a shortie shotgun (firearm, whatever) is really great for close quarters. You can also get a "brace" and pistol grip for these Shockwaves / Tac 14s, I have a brace for a Shockwave, but I don't have a shockwave. They are near impossible to find. With all that being said, THE NFA IS STUPID, EVERYONE GETS AROUND THE IDIOT LAWS SO JUST ABOLISH IT SO I CAN BUY MY SILENCERS WITHOUT THE DUMB TAX STAMP.
Any time! This was a down and dirty NFA lesson, there is a LOT more to it, like vertical fore grips on pistols, "any other weapons" (AOW's), Silencers, using a Trust to collect stamps etc. Always happy to help push people to NFA territory, Silencers are so much fun, sucks they have to be regulated, but TOTALLY worth it.
Those solvent trap suppressors are not great. To my knowledge, they are like suppressor "wipes" and once you shoot out a filter, you are "supposed" to send it back to the manufacturer to replace it. I do know filters make awful cans, it's best to go to Silencershop.com and buy a quality Silencer, and they will basically do ALL the paperwork for you for a minimal fee, then they send it to your SOT (Special
Occupational Taxpayer, can't be any old FFL) of choice. Make sure to ask your gun shop if they have their SOT (if they have silencers for sale then you're good), also find out if they charge you for holding on to the silencer while your paperwork clears (some charge $100+ for holding on to your silencer for the year+ while it clears). Most silencer manufacturers have lifetime warranties, Silencerco, Dead Air Suppressors, and Rugged Suppressors are all great companies I have cans from each of them, but you really can't go wrong. Q makes amazing stuff, Sig, and Surfire. Anything that Kevin Brittingham has had his hands in, you can trust will be quality. Definitely look into a Trust if you want the ability to leave your cans to a family member in case you die, also this allows you to add people if you want to let anyone borrow them (you can let anyone shoot your cans so long as your in the presence and "possession"), or if you want your significant other to have access to them, otherwise no one else in the house is supposed to have access to your gun safe.
It makes the gun a completely different animal. Without it, it's only really practical for very close quarters point shooting unless you practice a ton but even then, the aiming dot it comes with and the recoil make it very very akward to use. The crimson trace laser is almost a requirement to really make this animal shine, and the coolness factor of the shockwave is just ridiculous.
Thanks man. The CT lasersaddle an absolute must. Tons of fun and makes it way more practical. Definitely go get one. You won't regret it. I also recommend upgrading the barrel. Links below:

I used to think a shotgun was enough. Then some leftist troglodyte started to try and cancel me calling me a racist. I figured if marxists show up at my door, a nice AR-15 would allow me to bag as many as possible. I don't intend to let them get withon 50 yards of my person.
'Hippity Hoppity Get Off my Property'... I see what you did there.

What shotgun is that??
Mossberg Shockwave.
It's technically not a shotgun because it doesn't have a stock from the factory.

He is correct, it's classified as a firearm.
"Not a shotgun
🤣🤣
A shotgun or rifle without a stock? Am I a joke to you?
Mossberg shockwave. It is classified as a "firearm" and not a "shotgun".
Am noob, whats the benefit of that?

Thank you for the free education. Salute!

If I do a solvent trap suppressor think I can handle the paperwork myself? Do I pay an FFL to get involved?

Shotguns cant have short barrels so by being a "firearm" it can

Very nice. I put a bunch of tacticool stuff on mine. Including a side saddle rail combo with a big ol scope looking laser mounted on top.
I have the “night stick” dumpster defender!
For God and Country! Deus Vult!
The crimson trace makes this "gimmicky" gun into a true self-defense monster. Worth every penny.
Yep. It's great, never had problem with it. Highly recommend.
That shotgun is sexy af.
And who said that extended mags weren't sexy? Ok, .... I like the extended purchase and rise control, K?😏
I love your shotgun!
How are those shotguns with Razor grips? I was thinking of getting one myself
Surprised we haven't seen more companies compete with the p365 yet
best pocket carry option imo
Sig all day 👌
Nice dumpster defender
What's that on the back of the Mossberg? Looks like a coin-op (but I know it isn't).
