Edit: thanks for the support pedes. My faith in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit is not diminished. I’m just disappointed in the pastor. I will keep looking for a church that is rooted in God only.
funny, my Baptist Pastor just preached an amazing sermon about not being able to appease the world. The world is always changing and it doesn't even know what it wants. You can either please God or try to appease the world but you can't both.
That's a really good take. Say what you will about God's standards, at least they don't change every 4 minutes.

Israel was God's de novo nation, so that he could use them as his own - free of such faux goddish lineage - later to re-adopt the lot of humanity back: after they sufficiently failed under pagan management. Voluntary adoption only. Now. And so stands Christ's offer, at last.
Our race is as God's, if we choose, then. But "race" is just "family", by any definition. God's TWO families are to be united. And if God's not your parent, who cares otherwise.

Jesus brought about the freedom of his people. His people being not just the direct descendants of Israel, but every human on Earth.
The places where slavery still exists is in places that don't have Christianity.
Even to this day, when people describe slavery in the US, they talk about things like student loans which cannot be forgiven. And wouldn't ya know, they are distributed by bankers and academia. Not a whole lot of Jesus amongst those groups.
And outside the US, slavery happens mostly in Muslim and atheist countries.
Imagine being a grown adult, borrowing large amounts of money from someone, then calling yourself a slave because they make you pay it back.
College is not mandatory, people.
