He bought it from the Army Barracks base store... just a couple months before german pistols were banned from exported to the US. Army personnel were able to buy guns easily from the Army Barracks store. Most of the Walther TPs were in a higher calibur (.25 I think), and less than 500 of the .22lr version like I have made it to the US before the German export ban. This is the only thing I inherited from my father when he passed away, and I hope to be buried with this gun when my sunset happens.

I'm sorry for your loss friend. Keep her close, and don't let that TP go. Any other cool firearms that your Dad was able to get?

As a side note, I wish we could purchase imported firearms. There's a lot of cool foreign pieces that I can only dream of having.

My dad had a sweet gun collection, but my mother sold them all for peanuts because she was laid off her job 20 years ago. I try not to think about it.

Similar situation here. I would have loved to learn pheasant hunting or something. I do like fishing...

If it makes you feel any better, my grandpa had a sweet collection of WW2 militaria. We had an Type 99 with the Mum, to a Nazi SS sword (pretty sweet that a Jewish family had one lol). My Mom sold it, because she was afraid that my brother, and I would hurt ourselves with them.

My father would be proud of my growing firearm collection. It is a humble collection as it stands (with the Walther being my crown jewel). My father used to make his own ammo, and I'm thinking that is a great skill to learn right now.

I love the idea of jews protecting themselves with weapons that were once used by their enemy. I love what Israel is doing right now in the middle east. I also love stamps like the mum. I imagine you watch Gun Jesus on his youtube channel Forgotten Weapons, right?
