So I've been compiling every reputable source (so far) saying masks don't work... I've also went and pulled the relevant quote from each one as they can get a litte wonky. The intent of the pulled quote is to entice the reader to click into the link and investigate for themselves...
Note, the FDA link says that surgical masks absolutely don't stop the virus but then goes on to say they recommend a cloth mask... which makes no sense... furthermore when you click the link in that article to the CDC it says they MAY help... not that they DO help...

When a virus has multiple methods of transmitting infection, the mask by itself is nearly ineffective.
Seriously, it’s our hands touching everything that is spreading the disease. Same with all other viruses of this nature that belong to the category of the common cold.
If you touch the mask, a harbor for viral material, you are passing whatever is in your mucus along to everything you touch.
