In my experience those with 'enough ammo' never tell anyone.

I lost all my ammo in a tragic boating accident.

I only know one guy with enough ammo and he owns a company that makes brass and ammo. Even then, he still buys more!

This is a range trip for some people I know. I however am broke right now so I don't shoot as much with ammo being hard to find for cheap

RighteousViolence1 5 points ago +5 / -0

Change up your drills and work with a friend (you go, he goes). Work single fire or low round count drills. I shot 250 rds yesterday in about 3 hours which is about half what I usually do. I worked on mostly draw speed and target transitions.

5.56 is damn near impossible to find right now, been like that for months.

11
YouKnowWhatItIs87 11 points ago +11 / -0

I got 1000 @ $0.47/round about a month ago randomly from an obscure site I’d never heard of who happened to be in stock and like 3 hours away from me. Now, all they have is $1.07/round

Friendly_B 5 points ago +5 / -0

Holey smokes.

Cabelas has Herters for .33/rd. $99.99 for 300. Dont let anyone tell you its shit ammo. Its repacked S&B. Good stuff if not a touch dirty, but an AR is designed to run like a dirty whor...girl.

-5
Drobuwp -5 points ago +4 / -9

That's why you need an AR10.

The three main benefits of 5.56/.223 are the cost per round when plinking, the lack of recoil in full auto, and the low weight allowing you to carry more. If you're talking about self defense effectiveness, you're limited to semi-auto already so why not use something that fits the role well? Military doesn't use 5.56 in semi auto service rifles. 30-06 or .308 are much more appropriate.

As a hunter, you're not going to catch any self respecting person using .223 fmj. Hollow point .308 is far more effective at making the first shot count.

debi_birx_scarf 9 points ago +9 / -0

When did the Army stop using 5.56mm ??

10
Butthurt 10 points ago +10 / -0

They didn’t

4
LarsOfTheMohicans 4 points ago +4 / -0

This guy is a gun hipster talking out of his ass

4
Butthurt 4 points ago +4 / -0

To be fair he’s right about the military not using 5.56 in SEMI auto rifles.

3
LarsOfTheMohicans 3 points ago +3 / -0

To be fair, military rarely uses full-auto in anything but belt-feds

1
Butthurt 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yeah I know. I did six years army

0
Drobuwp 0 points ago +1 / -1

Since when is double the muzzle energy and ~70% greater ballistic coefficient "hipster shit talking out of my ass?"

If you don't have select fire as an option, you might as well use a more competent round. It's the difference between a level 3 plate being able to take multiple hits and needing a level 4 plate to stop 1. The recoil isn't an issue for single shots.

3
AlcoholicRetard 3 points ago +3 / -0

.223 is great for coyotes.

YouKnowWhatItIs87 13 points ago +13 / -0

Was gonna recommend a site for anyone who may want to purchase more that I recently used to get a somewhat reasonable price on 1000 rounds each 5.56 and 9mm but they’re drained apparently. Nice stockpile.

6
RighteousViolence1 6 points ago +6 / -0

https://www.bitethebullet.co/

You can buy a 100k rd pallet from this place for $19k. No big deal right?

Some of it is remanufactured, but it’s like .19/rd. I’ll pay that all day for once fired brass.

13
KidDynomite 13 points ago +13 / -0

That's not enough freedom seeds. Need to grow more.

Been snooping ammoseek for whenever decent 9mm deals pop up and managed to stock up on a ton of 9mm at around 18-24cpr right now while the prices are utter crap in the last few weeks.

Gotta admit, been pretty lucky considering.

2
LIBS_are_LOSERS 2 points ago +2 / -0

What’s a good price for 9mm hollow point?

2
BlackJack 2 points ago +2 / -0

You can grab fed HST hollow 9mm on gunbroker for 250 rounds for $250.

2
ParkingLotRanger 2 points ago +2 / -0

Just got 500 rds for $400 today. Snapped it up.

Ammogeddon is upon us. Let the current circumstance be a lesson to us all, don't wait, make prepping part of your life. Never know when we get hammered with a double dose of corrupt stupidity like the china flu scam

2
Saxmaster 2 points ago +2 / -0

Tried to buy ammo in Thousand Oaks (near Los Angeles) and they wouldn't even let me in the store. They said the supply was so low they were only selling 2 boxes of ammo with the purchase of a new gun. I asked to look at guns, and all they had left were revolvers.

2
Don-O-Mite 2 points ago +2 / -0

As you seem to enjoy a pile of freedom seeds, Id like to introduce you to my plan. Its pretty tough now with the chinaflu... but as youll see that doesnt matter too much.

Every month, replace what you shot at the range +1 case for either your most common rifle or pistol caliber. Swap back and forth. Soon you will have the necessary seeds to plant a forest of freedom.

I wish we could! Stores all around our area are out. We have to catch them at just the right time when shipments come in and then it's limited quantities only.

I can't believe I spotted that lol

Check out 911 tactical in Honesdale. $15/box FMJs, bought 8 at one time. Roll Call (and other places) will ration them, and on top of that Roll Call just raised their prices from $15/box 1 box per person to $27/box 1 box per person.

1

If only I could find any that isn't 39.99 a box or some weak 65 grain 9mm ammo I would. I have about 1000 rounds though and two bulletproof vests, so I'm ok for now.
