In theory, yes, but in practice you have to paint over "Black" somehow, and then paint "All" over that (which needs to be dry) to get it done, which makes it highly impractical. Need to have edits that can be done fast, in one pass.

Henry 101 Asphalt foundation sealant. It's basically petroleum solvent based driveway coat, like a professional company would use to sealcoat a driveway, it's what they make roads out of. Can use full strength or dilute with kerosene or diesel fuel, test mix to get correct constancy and drying speed for your application. Apply with brush or roller, or possibly a spreader if used in large qty. I'm not kidding when I say it's hard to clean up, nearly impossible to get it off....ehem, a driveway. This is actually the way to go if you're going to sealcoat your driveway. Looks great and completely becomes part of the existing asphalt, because the solvent eats into it before flashing off.
A sealer truck is much faster and doesn't have to stop!

A transport van, also no plates, for work crew. Driver stays in transport van. 2 to 3 people designated look outs and "community outreach".
Community outreach: "We are preparing a much bigger and better BLM mural. The mayor and city council are going big and we are supporting BLM."
Community outreach should look like workers keeping an eye on car traffic near cones and intersections, etc.

Details for deisgnated party to have on hand: name of city manager; name of public works director(s), name of council/alderman/supervisor for district the "work" is being performed in; company name, address, telephone number that does paving (pick at random from phone book).
Story: we were called on a high paying public works rush job, crew is hired by designated person to do this job, name of party in public works dept. is "Barry L Madderson" or "Will Farrell" or something that sounds like a prank.
Cops feel bad for private contractor being deceived by pranksters, see site being wrapped up, drop issue and let everyone leave.

Never got to point of arrest or citation as bluffing and above details got PD to back off as crew packed up site over "confusion at our office about this contract". We were able to do "public works" work for about two miles along a major commercial thoroughfare.
A nice addition I never had but which would make this kind of activism worth it: Pede lawyers able to deal with any citations or arrests; small legal fund to pay for pede lawyers costs and any fines, bail, or fees.

All the addresses I have seen with these signs are in highly urbanized and monitored metropolitan areas. A small crew with no real plan is at a high chance of drama, legal problems, or mob violence.

I would suggest a team of four to six and you staying on site so they actually do the work. Day laborers get ripped off all the time, so if you book it so will they.

I'm a contractor. We virtually never see asphalt driveways. Occasionally on acreage w/ very long driveways, but almost always concrete is the standard.
I think it depends on the location. It is pretty common in colder climates.

Yes in NY we apply this coating every couple years to prevent the asphalt cracking.during the freezing/thawing cycle.

Any tips or guidance on patching/repairing concrete cracks that don’t look worse than the crack itself? Haven’t really researched any of this, but my driveway could use a facelift for sure.

For cracks it’s usually because the concrete has shifted underneath. There is a repair service where they will drill small holes and insert a bladder. They will then raise the slab back to the right alignment and insert a filler. It’s pretty slick.
There are 2 types of concrete: concrete with cracks and concrete that will have cracks.
I live in a cold climate and asphalt melts snow better because it is black. They are standard here unless people can afford heated driveways.
It really depends on area.
Where I grew up I would agree with you. Where I live now I see a lot of gavel and asphalt as well as concrete. In some places they have a half mile of driveway. They are not using concrete on that unless they can splash out the cash for it.
Standards also vary from area to area. For example in the city I live in now apparently it is normal to put the electrical plugs with the ground on the top. Almost all the other places I lived it was ground on the bottom. Not that it really maters it just threw my sense of 'thats not right'. My previous house would not pass inspection in other areas of the country. But passes with flying colors here.
Ground up top works very well on outdoor and connectors that risk stuff touching the contacts.
I've had to do metalwork with regular outlets and have gotten plenty an arc in my face when trying to clean stuff up.
