It's possible I'm wrong. However, did you see the march at Stone Mountain last week by blacks who had been trained by the U.S. armed forces (according to them)?
If they were trained by U.S. armed forces, then our forces are shit and need some serious re-training.
Trigger/muzzle discipline wasn't the best. One was walking around with a jam. Walking around with two rifles at the same time (some state of readiness there).
BUT they are armed and therefore dangerous, especially to the unarmed and unsuspecting.
That being said: I don't think this was the case with this case. Something's fishy about the fishing trip from start to finish.

Gigging is more of a night time activity, fishing is more of a daytime activity. Can't remember the last time I heard of someone going fishing on a Friday night. If 'fishing' is the official word, I'd have some questions.

Never even fucking heard of gigging, however, I've caught many fish at night. Catfish bite all day and night, they aren't as deep during the night.
Go out at night with spotlights and spear fish when you see their eyes reflect from the spotlight. Pretty fun.

I live in this county and, yes, some people fish at night. Sometimes we also have people who water ski on the lakes at night, although it is not a smart thing to do.

Does everyone fish at night? No. My husband does on occasion simply because he doesn't always have time during the day, and he loves fishing. At their age, more than likely these guys were going to fish and probably going to drink (or whatever) at the same time. On a Friday night in Frostproof not a whole lot to do. Edit: my husband says the big catfish are in their holes during the day and come up towards shore at night, so the largest catfish are caught at night. If you want a big one, fishing at night is the way to go.

The first one was BEATEN then shot. His other friends showed up and were shot. Clearly they were ambushed. Pot growing near a local fishing spot where people are likely to find the grow area is not likely, IMO. Most pot growers pick remote locations, typically on private property that can be marked "no trespassing".

This was a setup. Someone had to hide in the swamp and wait for them. I would start looking at ex spouses or girlfriends.

I see that isn't a popular opinion. My question is why did dad leave everyone, go to a gas station to call for help? He could have used one of their phones.
It's easy to say what one should have done but when someone's senses are assaulted with the unimaginable, you don't know how you would react. I saw my 2 year old child near death from a drowning accident and I was frozen in fear, even though I knew I should have immediately commenced to performing CPR. I could not even dial 911 until I forced myself to discontinue panic mode and to concentrate on pushing 3 buttons to save my child's life. Luckily someone who was there was able to begin CPR and his life was saved. Later, looking back I realized that the shock of seeing my child blue and not breathing stunned me so much that I could not react rationally. I absolutely understand how one can make irrational judgements when seeing a loved one near death and/or dying right in front of your very eyes. Everyone reacts differently to traumatizing events.
