To be sure, I don't think anybody was asking anybody to apologize for loving his/her <insert diverse racial groups> friends.

I would drop that one - it sounds kind of pandering, like it was stuck in there just to prove the speaker is not racist. Like..I am not apologizing for being white BUT some of my best friends are diverse, in case you were wondering.

I don't think that you have to apologize for being white EVEN IF ALL YOUR FRIENDS ARE WHITE.
