Well said. I too am a recovering addict and couldn't have said it better myself. Whether it was going fast on my street bike, sex, or drugs, I just wanted that rush to escape what I thought was a bad life. Then I had my daughter, and started bettering myself for her, not just for me. Started going to the gym, started taking her to the park and going on dinner dates with her mom, my now wife. Started teaching her about God and in turn taught myself. And I became happy with my situation. Drug use is very similar to transgenderism in how they aren't comfortable in their own life and want to change it. But that will just cause more problems eventually and is not the solution. MAGA brother, here's to my 7 years coming up in August and I wish you the best.
Awesome, congrats brother, and thanks for sharing! Recovery, and really "walking the walk," is what really cemented my conservative values. I was always more right leaning, but more in a kind of hippie libertarian way, But getting clean and being a responsible human for close to a decade, and seeing the real-world results of personal responsibility/accountability had a huge influence on my worldview and ideology
