Also many dangerous sounding chemical agents in food are just not that dangerous in concentration found it foods. For example vinegar - the most natural form of sour flavour in food - could have given you chemical burns in high concentrations which doesn't mean that your pickles are dangerous to eat.

If you put sodium bicarbonate in your shoes it will eat up the skin on your feet, but it will also kill fungus and bacteria, so pick your poison i guess lol.
