You know it’s very interesting; I get along with everyone in my life regardless of politics and would never hold anyone’s views against them. Having said that, I have NEVER encountered an outwardly liberal person that has come against me for my political beliefs. It’s almost as if people are just people and the animosity we expect is entirely fraudulent and unfounded on an anecdotal level. Manufactured, if you will.
I wore an American flag lapel at work on Independence Day, in a supposedly very liberal environment.
While I haven’t blatantly brought up my support of Trump, I can sense that many see it. The American flag lapel that I wore was a sort of giveaway.
I tend to only mention my political beliefs if the conversation naturally goes that way. I never try to shove it down others throats (unlike fringe leftists).
I’m sorry you had to do that. In many cases, those that follow these beliefs are simply misguided and/or caught up in the fray. Compassion, understanding and enlightenment is appropriate on the ground level.
However, the ringleaders and puppeteers at the top purposely pushing ill-founded narratives get the helicopter every single time.
These are the ones that need to be confronted, especially when they're new converts. There's a million different angles, but demonstrating that we're not about to be bullied and they are NOT intimidating is part of every one. Using the trust to be one on one with them in private is best.
Expect that to get worse. Plan for Civil War. You do NOT want to get stuck behind enemy lines. Hope for the best, but if you can take them on 5:1 do so now. If you can't stand up now, admit you've lost and come where sane people win, which is MOST of the Country.
I've seen it. My in laws became foaming at the mouth liberals during the 2016 election, it literally changed them as people. My father in law actually made a post on FB one time saying something along the lines that anybody who voted for Trump is evil, they deserve death, and that he wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire. He said this knowing I voted for Trump, he said this knowing his own daughter voted for Trump. When she approached them about their statements they said "we're not talking about you sweetie" like that makes it ok. To get them back I bought a bunch of Trump gear and would always wear it or display it when I knew they were coming over or if we were going over there. I could tell it really bothered them but they knew better than to say anything to me in person. It's easy to be tough behind a keyboard but your average liberal will cower back into the person they used to be prior to social media.
I think there are a lot of closet conservatives. I also think the cancel culture is mostly on the internet.
The few times people cross the line are often highlighted, similar to how the media highlights racist crimes. The difference is the left actually does the things they are accused of while the other example turns out to be a hoax or overblown more often.

I got promoted last week.
Congrats on the promotion. Does anyone know you're a Trump supporter though?

And thanks for the congrats.
Ah, 2020... when wearing an American flag pin in America is potentially career limiting.
I’m a school teacher who is openly pro Trump and I get along with everybody and no one has ever brought it up against me.
Care to share your area? That can be the big difference.
I teach in central Virginia.
Thank you for putting your job on the line, but please be careful. https://freebeacon.com/campus/mi-school-fires-popular-teacher-for-saying-trump-is-our-president/
