I haven't looked at it in a while, but I remember seeing plenty of videos showing smoke pouring out of that building's windows long before it ever collapsed. The leading theory behind its straight-down collapse is that its internal supports were destroyed by a prolonged fire and eventually the building crumbled under its own weight. And the fire got started by debris from the other buildings if I recall correctly.
