Actually, having read the article, they have a point. For instance, I use my google voice number when filling out anything online that requires your phone number. Every time I vote for Trump in one of his polls, without my consent, I get multiple text messages on that number from the campaign. I never "opted" in, and they are very frequently sent. A simple "type stop" to opt out is the only language they need to add to overcome this. IMHO don't shoot this pede!

I have been digging into this today and, what you said might be true too but there is likely some language in the "I agree" that permitted the text (I'll pause so everyone can consider that "Terms of Service" seems fine when Facebook, Twitter, and social media are pissing all over your freedom of speech in the digital "public square") that allows for some follow up. And, looks like replying with "stop" removes you from these list and most people that have a cell phone and have used text messages (so, like, all people) have figured that out.

BUT, there is still some swampy DC bullshit going on too because I have only ever signed up for texts from the main Trump text system.

Please see my post above thread about the players here: https://thedonald.win/p/GIuotDTM/x/c/141EiNKs8X

Here is some additional details:

  • I have only signed up through what is called a shortended code
  • the shortened code is the 88022 part of the Text TRUMP to 88022 sign up
  • When I signed up, I got the legalease
  • The legalease is similar to what I see when I agreed to get flight alerts from Delta/American/etc (I don't know/remember what its said, but whatevs.. "Yes, I want these messages" is what that meant)
  • Now get Trump campaign and I GOP text messages that come from other numbers that are regular-looking numbers
  • To me, still part of
  • But, these text messages come from regular looking phone numbers and most of their are toll-free (866, 844, etc)

It appears that the DC bullshit is that they are saying these regular looking phone numbers are different (somehow), but it looks like these regular-looking numbers are fairly new for sending out text messages (Trump team always seems to be at the leading edge, so it makes sense).

And, if you see my post above in thread, it looks like this is a private company that is actually regulating things on behalf of the FCC, which has farmed out the admin/regulation to this industry group called CTIA. So, FCC to the CTIA to the private company = someone at the private company hates Trump and is finding a way to INTERFERE WITH THE ELECTION (which everyone on the left used to be SOOO concerned about).

AND... it looks like Biden is using a similar system (has a shortened code; once you sign up; there are other regular-looking numbers that you'll get text messages from).

But, it's TRUMP that gets shut down on July 4th. It's TRUMP that is having a major aspect of normal everyday communication taken away from his campaign for what appears to be a) some iffy rules being interpreted by b) a no-name in an organization tied into the DC swamp that c) fucking hates Trump and is doing anything they can to take away his connection to the people.

YET AGAIN is a phrase we know because it repeated happens to Trump and Trump alone.

Need a STOP feature. I signed up awhile ago but have been getting texts too much. Caused me to drop something in my car. It's great and all but I get them too much, I am charging my phone while sitting down and have to get up to check it and inevitably it's from the campaign.
