You want to know the truth? It’s blue collar maintenance men keeping the country alive.
Construction workers, plumbers, electricians and the like are continuing to work out of necessity and most people seem to be grateful when they need help in this arena and can still get it.
For real. My friend had to give a month or 2 of recorded lessons while he sat at home with his dog playing video games. Now he's on his summer vacation and complaining that its bullshit and teachers should be paid 6 figures (for working 72% of what a normal 9-5 50 week/year person works)
And when they don’t have the WuFlu to bitch about, they complain how they are underpaid for their jobs and they do “sooooo much prep” in their free time (which just tells me they are shitty at organizing their stuff)
This is the perfect time for private schools to expand & new ones to pop up. Even small Homeschooling "clubs" could form. The positive result from this would be the rapid end of left-wing indoctrination of our children. DEFUND PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS. Shove their propaganda right back in their faces.
She said that teachers who are older than 65 or has health issues should be allowed to do online instruction. But that everyone else needs to get back in the schools.
Don't do assembles. Serve prepacked meals in the classrooms. And keep all children and teachers in their own areas. Most schools are constructed with wings - limit interaction with other wings, including recess. Each wing becomes a "family".
It annoys me that for years teachers lobbied and complained to get the public schools to feed other people’s children on my dime, and now they want to keep the schools shut and fuck those same kids because they’re scared to catch the flu. I hate how these communist teachers can hold the entire country hostage.
Absolutely. Kids need to be back in school. And so does everyone else.
My Mother taught in a DFW metro public school where 95% of the kids were on free lunch. And many of their parents were driving nice, newer cars and trucks.
And what of the 5% of the kids whose parents might make $1 too much to qualify?
I live in Los Angeles. We vote at the nearby elementary school. LAUSD is online at least until 1/2021. Will the auditorium be opened for us?
My wife works at a high school, and there's so much bitching from a very loud group at the school. They had about 6 teachers resign over this.
This is actually a good thing in many respects. My wife's department (except for her of course) are all Democrats, but even they realize that the kids need to go back to school. It's a pretty big red pill for a lot of people when they see the importance of in-person schooling for their own kids compared against a frothing at the mouth crazy liberal bullshit that these wackos are spouting.
The way I see it, if you can't do the job, you need to quit and make room for someone who will. Ironically, the school system my wife works for is probably the highest paying school system within a 3 hour drive. I really don't think they are going to have a hard time filling those spots.
If we are going online, then why do we need so many teachers?
Can't we professionally produce the lectures and all that we need are teachers to answer questions, and separate test/quiz monitors (these don't need to be 4yr degree teachers).
If we monitor the questions that teachers are getting we can start to either build that into the lecture or have additional prerecorded resources to cover specific areas.
I'd say that it depends on the grade being taught. I personally have witnessed what a Zoom class looks like with 20 first graders on it, and it's pretty much an abject fucking disaster. Maintaining their attention is more difficult the younger they are.
I don't disagree necessarily, but my point was that remote learning is impossible for very young children. It's not reasonable or feasible for an any adult to keep the attention of any size group of remote young children for a period of several hours.
That is an incorrect assumption. Before the Rona mess, Florida had/has a terrible deficit in available teachers (like 10K). There are ongoing recruitment efforts throughout the nation, but with little return on investment. Florida has substitutes with no certificate teaching full classes full time.
Is there such a thing as a Scab for teachers? Like subsitutes who cant get a ft job because some tenured faggot won't leave. What if they just crossed the virtual picket line and started teaching classes?
"teachers" have always had this habit of running around telling people that there job is the most important job there is. No, you're not. 95% should have been a brown stain on your parents bed sheets and the good 5% get bullied out by the others.
They are GOVERNMENT workers which means they work for the People! The People want their kids back in school w strong teachers not weak pussy cowardly teachers! 99.96% survival rate/96% of those testing positive have NO symptoms and there is Hydroxycloriquine plus zinc...Get back to work PANTY WASTES!
The teachers are worse than the children at this point. We knew we were going to have problems with the millennials in the future, but holy fucking shit.
I keep chanting: demand a pro-rata refund of your school / property taxes for the percentage of time the local schools were closed. This will defund the pro communist public schools, kill the teachers unions, and allow a more productive diverse replacement to grow.
Even if they opened schools, I am not sending mine back. It's not school, it is a commie indoctrination camp that has embraced the new normal fear mongering effort. They must be defunded. Fuck them.
Thomas Sowell argues that then problem is teachers unions. They keep adding do nothing positions to increase the union numbers and thus increase the union's income rather than increasing teacher's salaries.
I say fuck them all. It should not be publicly funded and it definitely should not be a public union. Dissolve all of the public schools and let the private sector do a better job focused on results.
I am a teacher
Teachers are being a bunch of fucking pussies.
They act like they are the only job that didn't have to go through this
Forget the grocery store people, fast food workers, truckers, anyone else that had to go to work to do their job
Agreed.

My A/C was leaking fluids and I had a HVAC expert out in hours. I was afraid we were gonna be fucked without air conditioning for weeks.
I don't think they are being pussies, I think they are being lazy. They have had it made since this all happened.
For real. My friend had to give a month or 2 of recorded lessons while he sat at home with his dog playing video games. Now he's on his summer vacation and complaining that its bullshit and teachers should be paid 6 figures (for working 72% of what a normal 9-5 50 week/year person works)

Exactly! Get back to work or find a new career where you dont have to leave the house!

Yup. My Mother is a retired teacher.
She said that teachers who are older than 65 or has health issues should be allowed to do online instruction. But that everyone else needs to get back in the schools.

Bus service is an issue.

Now go into a 1st grade classroom...
I don't know why you need a degree to teach 1st grade. That should be a High School diploma and 2 years of paid OTJ training.
I don't disagree necessarily, but my point was that remote learning is impossible for very young children. It's not reasonable or feasible for an any adult to keep the attention of any size group of remote young children for a period of several hours.
I 100% believe the kids not being in school is a horrible idea that will have lasting negative impacts.
Yep. have a FAQ after the lecture.
Kind of like a library of accredited educational courses in video format that can be downloaded or just viewed by parents and students.
they can find teachers replacements easily, Elizabeth Warren worked on an emergency certificate.
That is an incorrect assumption. Before the Rona mess, Florida had/has a terrible deficit in available teachers (like 10K). There are ongoing recruitment efforts throughout the nation, but with little return on investment. Florida has substitutes with no certificate teaching full classes full time.
im taking the piss out of Warren
And if parents want to protect their kids, homeschool them.
Reagan had an solution for people who didn’t want go back to their jobs.
Is there such a thing as a Scab for teachers? Like subsitutes who cant get a ft job because some tenured faggot won't leave. What if they just crossed the virtual picket line and started teaching classes?
Yep. "It's your job. School starts on this date. Be there or you're fired."
But no, their union has too much power, and legions of Karens have their kids in the government schools.
Who woulda thunk teachers wouldn't want to go back to work when you sent them mailbox money to "give lessons" on a video conference call.
"teachers" have always had this habit of running around telling people that there job is the most important job there is. No, you're not. 95% should have been a brown stain on your parents bed sheets and the good 5% get bullied out by the others.

Yuuuup

I don’t remember nurses that actually had to tend to sick covid patients complaining.
Teachers : "Great ! I'd love to quit - but can I keep the salary and benefits ? let's get the union to demand this..."
Correct! You don’t HAVE to be a teacher if your job is so freaking hard and you are so scared of getting sick.
unpopular opinion: some of them have valid concerns.
i think teachers in los angeles [correct me if im wrong teacher pedes] amongst many teachers across the nation
had not seen anything in the way of raises for a long long time.
now. pointing the finger at covid and defunding police dont sort out as a reason
but in the least, teachers have been shat upon by the liberals in liberal states.
i dont have any real solutions. just saying. i have teacher friends in many states.
it only ever got worse and worse for them, being political pawns.
that is not to allay any villainy on their part... but...
i would like to think kids in this country need as many educational options as we can muster.
it was my hope that President Trump would spend the first term sorting out money and business
to an extent he has, and then the second term sorting out our children's social welfare.
a robust economy should care about the level of quality of training for its future workers
fuck lots of them, for sure.
I taught in public schools for a year - and was forced out by Communists. The teachers union didn't do anything at all to protect me.
Fuck the Communist teachers and their corrupt union.
Even if they opened schools, I am not sending mine back. It's not school, it is a commie indoctrination camp that has embraced the new normal fear mongering effort. They must be defunded. Fuck them.
Teachers are paid fine. 3 months off for the summer + every goddamn holiday. Presidents' week? Yes Please!
Also, socially/anecdotally ... most k-12 teachers I've met are terrible people or lazy AF.
Thomas Sowell argues that then problem is teachers unions. They keep adding do nothing positions to increase the union numbers and thus increase the union's income rather than increasing teacher's salaries.
