Truthfully -- everybody knows not to use the Dan Ryan at all unless you want to get shot. The statistics on the others are a little higher than I would have expected -- but then again people who don't need to use expressways usually try to avoid them at all costs. And there's certain areas of the city you just go out of your way to avoid even if you have to drive miles out of your way around them.
I don't blame the cops. They try. The politicians are in bed with the criminals.
The Illinois State Police had tallied 62 expressway shootings in Cook County this year as of Tuesday. That compares with 52 for all of 2019, 43 in 2018, 51 in 2017 and 54 in 2016, a year that gun violence in Chicago hit levels not seen since the 1990s.
