I thought the same, but I watched a half inning of the Yankees/Mets exhibition the other night and the empty stands and piped in noise just didn't do it for me. Not to mention that attention whore Clint Frazier wearing the dopey mask on the field (and I'm a Yankee fan.) I saw the highlight of Mike Ford's HR last night into empty bleachers. I just can't get into it. It doesn't seem real or entertaining. It's depressing.
This is all in addition to the fact that 60 games is nowhere near enough to let the best teams rise to the top. The 2018 Dodgers were 30-30 at 60 games and wouldn't have even made the postseason. (Not that they were a great team...but they won 92 games.)
It's not a "season." It's a tournament. The thing with the runners starting on second base in extra innings really bothers me, too. They claim it's for "players' safety." Oh, so they are on the field for three hours or more with all the same people who've all been tested, but suddenly extra innings poses some sort of new threat? MLB is just being dishonest. They wanted to shoehorn that crap into the game. They claim it's only for 2020, but you know they'll claim it was a success and install it as a rule going forward.
